I thought maybe the author was just reflecting her own personal changes in Harry over time as she wrote the 4th book after getting all that money which changed her out look on the world. Apparently not for the better...

I figured that she was just overplaying the fact that he was a teenager and that it was a "hard time" for him.

lol. I know alot of younger kids were into the book(s) and hated the 4th for that very reason

i, personally, LOVED the 4th book. the 5th book, however, got on my nerves. yeah, yeah, so you have to deal w/a lot of stuff...you don't have to completely alienate your friend b/c you feel pissy...

I did however, find that Professor Snape was nicely done in both the 4th and the 5th book.

Harry is such a little bastard! Grr, he is annoying in the 5th; more so than in the 4th.

Ron/Hermione is too predictable. They hook up and...? Now, with Harry and Hermione, it is bound to cause many problems, creating many subplots (and you know how much J. K. Rowling absolutely adores her subplots). It will cause the ultimate Ron/Harry conflict and sets up the eventual make-up between friends. Sorta like how Gryffindor and Slytherin were once really good friends. With this, history can redeem itself by reuniting these two friends. (Yes, I'm a Harry Potter nerd. :oops: So sue me... :P ) It puts another character (Hermione) in much greater danger. It allows Harry to sink deeper into his darkness (in Book 6) before he is triumphant in Book 7.

Harry Potter is very overrated.........real wizardry can be an interesting occasional read and then of course there are thousands of better books and as far as movies.......the majority are better

That's a good point. I remember when I used to play, my main nation was involved in the great War against Franco in the Pacific. Several mods were accosted by both sides, and I remember our side especially being mad at Neutered Sputniks for helping Franco regain power (he did it legally though, there's no question of that). Yeah, those were the days. I loved my Danimalia nation, but I got bored. Oh well...

I've read them plus a few other of his. I don't think they are anything special. But I'm not a particular fan of Fantasy, Sci-Fi is more my cuppa tea.

Is the 5th book actually any good? I've not got round to buying it.

Can I ask if anyone actually felt at all sorry that Sirius Black died, for me the fact that he was so completely devoid of any feature of character other than arrogance made me not really care a great deal.

Another question, why when Harry has clearly been having wet dreams about Cho Chang for years does he run away from her as soon as she actually shows an interest.

Snape is clearly the best character, he's blatantly going to speak with Voldermort before the end of the 7th book, I can't wait, but then my life is devoid of meaning at the moment so that's understandable.

1: Sirius has plenty of character, he just doesn't get enough time in the books to show it well enough.

2: Harry is inexperienced with women; I have the same problem, I'm nervous around girls too (not that any would show an interest in me). Besides, she stopped being interested in him, so he stopped being interested in her.
