Shepherds Neame is the oldest (continuous) brewery in the country and brews a fantastic pint. Spitfire and Bishop's finger are both worth a go...

I was brought up in Kent, so I know a fair bit about Shepherd Neame. Granted, Bishop's Finger is a very good beer; however, the rest of their range is pretty weak. There is one notable exception - Whitstable Bay, an organic ale (named for my home town, and if anyone knows the area then they may be able to work out my puppet).

There are much better brewers (eg Samuel Smith, Young's, Burtonwood).

As for the adverts, these are toned down. The originals were highly derogatory towards the Germans. It's one thing to poke fun (in an amusing manner, I agree) but the campaign is based on xenophobia, pure and simple.

Really? You like Sam Smith's? It really doesn't travel well and I haven't ever had a decent pint of it in the South. Not that it's that great even in Yorkshire.

I'm more of a fan of non-bitter ales. Sam Smith do great porters and stouts. I like their ales, but they're not the very best. A big selling point is that they're so cheap...

The finest ale I've had is Everard's Old original.

Incidentally, I'm in London now. Sam Smith (and indeed most of the smaller breweries) are unheard of in Kent.

Oh, dear. We're being beer bores! Never mind...

In fact, I don't know the beer but their great humoristic campaign is making me thursty and curious about their beer. So the campagn was a such a succes that I, as a native Belgian want to try it.

Is the beer allready exported to France, anybody knows?
