Just for those who care, this topic discusses gay marriage. As of right now it's the only one in this forum so :P to you if you want to complain about how many there are.

Anyway, I was sent this article by a friend and find so many things wrong with it, it just sickens me. I believe you can like Bill O'Reilly *and* support gay marriage at the very same time. And if you really want to know, I'm more toward the right in my political beliefs.

Anyway, without further ado...

yeah, Sometimes it's just flat-out annoying to hear a guy pretend to have no political opinions in a no-spin zone :P

Bill O'Reilly supports civil unions, not gay marriage.

I like his shows, and will probably see him when he visits Ft. Lauderdale in May.

The Battle has already begun, and it is being waged against the Sinful creations of Satan, thus his curruptions and temptations have created Homosexuality to an extreme.

Thank God I'm Heterosexual(Straight). May Lord God have mercy on those poor souls....

Unfortunatley, IRL I am a Christian, going to a Baptist Church, and do follow the Word of God on the subject of Homosexuality, meaning God dissapproves of it, period.

However, on this Board, I respect all no matter whom they are. Because, we are all fellow NationStates members and I intend to show how we should leave our worries behind, sorta, lol. :D

My Opinion is simply this...

What gives me the right to push or force my believes on you simply because we do not agree on the same issues. Just because I have a belief system that says Homosexuality is wrong, that alone doesn't give me the right to pass judgement on you. I believe in the Bible and it's teachings, however not everyone does, and I can't expect everyone to adhere to the same moral reasons, teachings, traditions and such that I do.

As a Christian what makes me mad is to see idiots out on street corner with signs or hosting websites that say "GOD HATES FAGS" or "ADAM AND EVE, NOT ADAM AND STEVE". this kinda behavior is not benificial and frankly does nothing to further the kingdom of Christ. Instead of preaching the hatred, and bitterness why don't we try leading by example, or do something else God has called us to do and Love. God doesn't hate fags, infact HE LOVES THEM MORE THAN YOU DO. I'm so tired of people hating, and preaching all this negitive bullgrap.

The fact is we as Christians have our beliefs and the word has thiers. That is the way it is, and that is how it will always be. If you want to change the word, do in in love, one person at a time.

I fully support cival unions. I see nothing wrong with giving couples the same benifits and married couples, such as insurance and so on. However, out of respect, I don't feel that they unions need to be called marriages. PEOPLE IT IS CALLED COMPROMISING

However, out of respect, I don't feel that they unions need to be called marriages. Marriage is religious. I think if you aren't 'married' by a religious representative (whatever one's particular faith names that individual) then it ought not be called 'marriage'. The thing governments licence is a civil union, and both religious and non-religious representatives are authorised to officiate over this union.

Every place the word 'marriage' is used in a non-religious context, it ought to be 'civil union'. Some people get united, others get united in marriage (which would then denote that religion is part of their union.) It doesn't seem difficult to me. One is a formal commitment that specifies religion, the other doesn't.

As for legal benefits pertaining to such officially recognised unions, they should apply to all regardless of whether religion is involved or not. I have a feeling it is going to be a long long time before what looks simple to me is accepted.

This is consistent with Bill's positions, which lean toward conservative libertarianism.
Bush has a divided power base on this issue.

Wow, I never would have expected this from O'Reilly...still doesn't make him any less evil. Just means he is, by some strange fluke of nature, taking a reasonable position on something. I'm amazed.
The man who wrote that article, on the other hand, is obviously very very eeeeevill. Even more so than O'Lielly (my main problems with him are the fact that he lies constantly and his views on several social issues other than gay rights).
Nodea Rudav, I've heard from waaay too many of your kind. Loudly exclaiming that you're Christian, and yet being decided un-Christian (at least, from what we can gather on these boards). According to your Savior, Jesus, Christians are supposed to be peaceful, tolerant, and loving of all people. And I'm pretty sure most homosexuals don't consider themselves "Sinful creations of Satan." The evidence strongly suggests that a person's sexual orientation is not a conscious choice, is not up to them, and may very well be genetic. And, being the fundamentalist that you seem to be, you would probably say that all things genetic are the "will of God". Hence, it logically follows that homosexuals are homosexual because your God wills it.

Thank No Deity At All That I'm a TOLERANT ATHEIST, not a BIGOTED FUNDAMENTALIST!!!!

It's easy to talk about compromising when you're not the one being asked to take a position as a lesser member of society. I agree that there are many situations where compromise is the best option--not this one. When you are dealing with equal protection before the law, compromise should not be a consideration. Remember, it was a compromise that allowed southern states to count slaves as 3/5 of a person for population purposes, and we're only now at the point where we can foresee an end to the repercussions of that decision.

Al franken is evil in my opinion. Oreilly may be a hard ass meanie now and then but he's not a republican and he is often right on things. Al franken smears lies and is just a rude jerk. I see nothing wrong though with this station being out there and I thought his column was funny I don't care much for rush limbaugh types. I like harry brownes show and oreilly now and then on radio, I might tune into air america for a listen to janeane

I could careless its on the radio I'm no liberal and I doubt i will agree or enjoy the station much but I'm glad its out there and support its existence.

"Al franken smears lies and is just a rude jerk"? And O'Reilly isn't a lying rude jerk?? Let me see if I follow your logic...

Bill O'Reilly lies.
Al Franken exposes Bill's lies.
But Al Franken is evil.
Thus, he cannot ever be correct.
Hence, Bill is telling the truth and Al is lying.

AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!
(head explodes from sheer contradiction of argument)

See? Even trying to be an O'Reilly fan made my head explode. I wonder how the real fans survive it.

I think alot of the things that aren't being considered here are why homosexuals are considered evil by idiots, I mean some people...
1. Goes against the bible.....Noah "knew" his son. Meaning he had sex with him. Homosexulity does indeed go against the bible in this case because it involves neither children nor incest.
2. Against nature. Wrong....animals in overpopulated areas exhibit signs of homosexuality as a form of NATURAL population control (Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by Carl Sagan)
3. Because the people who hate them are secretly tempted to experiment........... True
