are beards offensive?

should these masses of facial hair be banned due to health and safety or does the message "beards look crap" need to be spread far and wide?

Well, I have a goatee, so no.

Believe me, you don't want to see some of the faces those beards protect us from.

I tried to grow a g_oatee when I was 18 and discovered to my horrow that although my hair is brown, and my stubble is also brown, my beard was ginger. :| I've had nothing but twisted bitterness for facial hair ever since.

I like beards. My significant other has one.

It annoys me the way some employers (eg. in the hospitality industry) claim that they are unsanitary and tell their employees they must shave, but do not force them to also shave their heads.

I have a beard. And a moustache. And I nearly got kicked out of school for it. ####ed liberal-minded faculties. >>

I had the same problem, I just grew it anyway, and told myself that my friends were laughing WITH me, not AT me.

(They were actually laughing At me though)

the only men i've seen that look good with a beard are Sean Bean and Viggo Mortenson, usually they look horrible and make a good lookking guy look silly (just look at Brad Pitt!)

I have a 3" long g-oatee and a fu-manchu mustache. Once, I shaved the massive g-oat for a woman and dated her for a year-I should have chose the g-oat. I promptly grew it back.

I've had an old man tell me after 9/11 that "They're shooting people with beards now, you know..."

You know what? Frankly I don't care that there are people that don't like the beard. It's like a buffer-if you are someone who is bothered by it the chances are you are someone who would bother me. The beard saves us the time it would take to realize we don't like each other.

It has far more plusses. (It gets washed with everything else. It's big enough to shampoo) I am unmistakable. People who see me in passing remember me for a long time. In my field, that's important.

So I say viva la beard and hang those who don't like it. Squares.

Most of the great anarchist thinkers had huge beards. Look at Kropotkin.

I actually like a little facial hair on a guy if it's soft and not sharp stuble. kind of nice to feel against my cheek actually.

I have a beard on regular basis. My beard tends to have different shapes and sizes, but I compensates for that by shaving my head instead. Funny thing is that I have discovered hairs of every possible natural colour in my beard, and different areas have a different dominating colour. Kind of strange really.
