Good band? I can't get Reptilia out of my head.

apparently you people don't listen to music.

Their songs are catchy, but I can't listen to them too often because they annoy me. I have a compulsive need to listen to the lyrics, which range from "muttered too low, against the flow of the music, to be made out" (12:51) and, in Reptilia, "so stupid that they're physically painful to listen to and still mumbled nasally." The music itself it great to listen to, although it sounds too light and sweet for my tastes. If the frontman could just shut up and let the band do its job, I might consider it pretty good.
Although, that odd little guitar manipulation I can only describe as sounding "gummy" in Reptilia does fascinate me. Where the noise just sounds like it's stopping in the middle of a note a few times, on a (relative to eachother, 1 being highest, 4 being lowest, same little 1.75 notes) 2,3,4,1 repeat. There's two or three sets of these in the middle of the song, not smothered by rambling. It amuses me.

I like the strokes, don't really listen to them though. I recently rediscovered the clash in all their glory.

..or possibly some of us have listened to the bands that The Strokes have modelled themselves upon (like Television) and are quite happy with the originals that did it better...


I'll skip aside the irony of spoilt little rich boys playing at being punk rockers - at least Strummer had the nous to realise that rock and roll meant nothing without political commitment.

I've never heard of them sorry. I've probablly heard their stuff though.

My music comment was in reference to the fact that no one posted earlier today and I thought this thread wouldn't get any
