What would give you a peace of mind when you die?

Like, when you die and leave the world. What would make you feel better?

For example, when I die, it'd give me a peace of mind to know that I crammed my name into the textbooks for 2nd graders to learn and for 8th graders to curse me while they take tests on my actions

There are quite a few tihngs that could make me have peace of mind when I died, Colodia and Raysia both have a big two of them (although I don't honestly expect to be famous, it'd sure be nice). The biggest thing is a life free of to much stress.

"And when the hourglass has run out, the hourglass of temporality, when the noise of secular life has grown silent and its restless or ineffectual activism has come to an end, when everything around you is still, as it is in eternity, then eternity asks you and every individual in these millions and millions about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not."

Absolutely bloody nothing will give me peace of mind.

I will not die quietly, resigned to my fate.

No way. I'll go out kickin' and fightin' and scratchin' to the last.

Once I'm dead, there will be no mind to be peaceful or not.

Crikey.

I think I'd feel pretty good if my Grandma gave me a gentle shake and said, "Time to get up. Come on, have something to eat with your Grandfather. Then, you two go out and work in the garage."

What would make me feel better??...Knowing my sons have carried on my tribe's traditions and culture and passed them onto their sons, to ensure that we Cherokee do not die out and become so much as a footnote in some kid's history book.

One of the saddest moments in my life is to realize that there are Cherokee children who can't not speak their language...do not know the 7 sacred colors or the names of the traditional clans...our genome is probably the largest of all the American tribes..approx 400,000 or so,..the Lakota or the Ogolala Sioux might have more though....but still that genome grows at an almost stagnant rate..

Before the coming of the Euro..there were over 500 tribes on this continent...now the survivors number some 245 tribes..of which fewer then 50 could be considered viable.

Do you teach the Cherokee language and culture to many others? In that position I would make a point of that.

My grandfather taught me to count and to spell my own name in cherokee before I could do it in english... I lost the language as I got older and was stupid and never used it. I still remember the traditions, but I have trouble feeling comfortable around tribal members, since I am half danish, and look very white. I can cook up a mean batch of grasshoppers though..LOL..And I have been drum for several dances, but always for other mixed like myself.

I do what I can...but each year the lure of "western" society snags our youth....cell phones..pc's...our people see nothing in the past worth trying to retain...they forget that without the heart of our people the future is an empty glass...Even our "tribal council" system was forced on the tribes... we have an "elected" Principal Chief...not that is not to say the system has produced some extraordinary Chiefs...but their was something to say for the old ways...

knowing that watever happens next will be a totaly different kind of experience
for however long that lasts

you know the view from that mountain top is pretty darn good

i'd like to know that who i was and how i was and how i lived

somehow in some small way helped to undermine and ultimately topple
the tyranny of the dominance of aggressiveness

nothing would give me greater satisfaction then to know that no one would ever again have to live under the kind of oppression that shortsightedly romantacizing and rewarding aggressiveness has resaulted in being so common as to be widely though falsely immagined to be hopelessly inevitable.

just for people to realize how grossely and gratuitously they have narrowed their own existence through ignorance of the diversity of reality and the reality of diversity.

i don't mean the kicking themselves in the head when they realise that;
so much as the realization that they don't have to keep doing so.

that would be the real liberation,
not of one nation at the repression of others but of an entire planet at the expense of no one
