I don't think he really had much say in the matter.

Well, now that they've had time to get their stories straight, why not testify? :?

I don't think he really had much say in the matter. It was his decision for the most part, so I've heard

He had little choice. He was getting hammered by his own party on the issue. The Democrats didn't even have to do much on this one.

What bugs me is the conditions they placed on the testimony.

Sure they have their lies straight... ;) time to make it official.

Well, now that they've had time to get their stories straight, why not testify? :?Because the dems don't want her to testify, because they know she is right, but they wanted to bug her and Bush about it just for publicity, never actually thinking that Bush would actually cave in.

Yep. She has had plenty of time to be coached and to get her lies straight, so what do they have to lose ?

It will be interesting and entertaining to see what she has to say. Perhaps she will grow a spine and tell the truth.

She's already been caught in so many contradictions that she's damaged goods. The only thing that might save her ass is the fact that the White House said that if she were to testify, they couldn't call any other government witnesses or request any other documents. In other words, they can't impeach her testimony and she could conceivably lie with impunity.

There's one problem... you guys think everyone is Bill Clinton... ever think that SOME PEOPLE might actually think perjury is a BAD thing?

Yes, but none of those people are members of the republican party in elected positions.

I was not making a comparison I was overstating what I believe to cause the point to have greater impact. I never mentioned the Democratic party.

What the hell are you talking about? Josh Marshall is a respected journalist, and more importantly, the link to the primary source is in that posting. You want the story? Go to the link and read the original story. What Marshall adds is analysis. Disagree with it? Fine--he pffers the raw material for you there.

Bush always caves in on this kind of stuff, he didn't even want a 9/11 commission.

Ok, I will talk very slowly this time.
I was overstating a point for impact. Just because I say republicans are liers does not mean nor imply that I think that the democrats are not liers also. That is an assumption that you made.

Did you get it this time ?

Oh he HAD to cave in..it would have political suicide NOT to cave in. Even some of my buddies that are still in the Party have stated so..oh yeah the word had gone like a brushfire when the original word was that she wasn't going to testify....political lobbyists were practically falling over themselves to distance themselves if need be.
