I don't see a reason to ban it. There have already been enough notifications about the degree of graphical elements to it.
Is it just me or is it pretty much only the Jews that notice the anti-semitism?

Excuse me, but the link says the request was offered by 3 Jewish brothers. Nowhere does it say anything about them being Zionists.
Why call them Zionists? Why refer to Zionists in your thread title?

No, Silly Mountain Walks is just... well, silly. He tends to make a salad of definitions, especially when it comes to Jews, Israelis and Zionists. He can be an ok person when he puts the ideology aside though. I once managed to have a fairly friendly talk with him on this very board. Ohh the good old days...

Jews tend to see Anti-semitism around every corner.

That may be true with some Jews, but there's also the flip side of Jews being more familiar with certain antisemitic images, traits, or themes that might not raise any flags on a non-Jew's radar.

They shouldn't whine and bitch so much. All that complaining this is Anti-semitic, that is Anti-semetic raises more Anti-semitism then a movie.

French bishops warn of faults in 'Passion'

France's Roman Catholic bishops are warning their faithful about Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, saying the film feeds off a modern-day fascination with violence and could be interpreted as an apology for anti-Semitic thought.
The Conference of French Bishops also said the film, which is scheduled for release on Wednesday in France, oversimplifies Jesus's life and teachings.
"The sincerity of the filmmaker is not in doubt, and the film will attract men and women who are perhaps looking to know who Jesus is," the conference said in a statement released Tuesday.
"In this film, however, the face of Christ comes across less than our contemporary obsessions: anxiety about evil, a fascination about violence, a search for the guilty," it added.
The film also "summarizes the message of the Gospels in a problematic manner" and "could be used to comfort anti-Semitic opinions," the statement said.

In that case just ban the script. Aka the Bible.

I am a screenplay writer myself, and here's what I say: the Bible is no excuse. The movie should be judged as an independent artwork, because a person with different views and intentions could make an entirely different movie out of the same text.

Makes even less sense. It implies that every Catholic thinks like Gibson.

Well, the Church is responsible for the initial rise of Anti-Semitism and Hitler was also, most likely beeing Autsrian and all, born Catholic and without the Catholic Church he would have never gotten his funky ideas and Jews would rule the world today in open instead of in hiding....*pheww* *hyperventilates*

Saying that the script of the Passion = the Bible is a load of crap.

Much of the public believes that the movie was based on the Gospel of John. The film's official web site states that the movie "was adapted from a composite account of The Passion assembled from the four Biblical gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. " 1 However, the Gospels were extensively supplemented by a number of other sources, including two Roman Catholic mystics:
The "diaries of St. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) as collected in the book, 'The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ'." 2 She was an Augustinian nun who lived in Germany. Many information sources incorrectly state that she was the author of the book. In reality, it was Brentano, a famous German author and poet, who assembled descriptions of her visions into book form. It is available online. 3 One posting on a mailing list to which we subscribe wrote that when they read this book, they thought that they were reading Mel Gibson's screen play.
"The Mystical City of God" by St. Mary of Agreda (1602-1665). 4
The dialogue in the four gospels could probably only fill about ten minutes of film. A great deal of non-biblical material was added in order to flesh out the movie to its full length of 126 minutes. Whether this additional material was similar to the real events and dialog in first century CE Palestine is a matter of debate.
Okay, Mel Gibson beeing a staunch Catholic, ban Catholicism.
Actually, the level of which he and Catholicism can be debated, since he contests the legitimacy of the current Pope and Church.

Perhaps the simple crux of the matter is that jewish people see the bible as anti-semitic because they do not accept Jesus Christ. Also the bible pretty much blames the scibes and the pharases for the Death of Jesus.
As for the Passion of the Christ - I don't think it was anti-semitic. Some Jewish people were portrayed in a positive light. I.e. the guy who carried the cross with Jesus. Some Romans were shown in rather negative terms. Jesus's torturers and some Roman guards. Perhaps Pilate was too apologetc rather than shrewd (Going through the motions to avoid a rebellion) as he ought to have been portrayed. His wife seemed to be unecessary aswell.

Perhaps the Jews were to hasty. It's not Anti-Jewish. It's Anti-Italian.

I'd say it's more likely the depiction of the latter rather than the former. Although Jesus being a general dick to the Jews and calling them hypocrites, vipers, and sinners isn't very flattering, either.
A big part of this is also how the stories in the Gospels have been USED and interpreted, historically. Jesus was dissassociated from Judaism. His critiques weren't seen as being from within the Jewish community, but rather as a Christian Jesus attacking the evil Jewish religion. And, of course, it was used as a rationale to persecute and kill Jews. That's the issue I have with certain elements of the Gospels- like the "his blood be upon us" line in matthew.
