I'm totally curious as to what inspired you to name your nation whatever you named it. Post below. I'll start...

I named my nation Labrador, because I have a black Lab/German Shepherd mix dog...her actual picture is my nation's flag, by the way...and her name, Lyric, is the name of my national currency.

I have a few puppet nations as well.

Lyric - it was named after my dog, also.

Kalisiin - I used to be a member of SCA, and my charater was a Kujitai Warrior, a mythological Amazon warrior of Japanese extraction. Kalisiin (pronounced Kal - ih - SIGH - een) was my character's name.

Pacmanistan - Named, of course, after my all-time favorite video game! I was listening to the news and they were talking about Pakistan, and I got to thinking...and created the nation of PacManistan.

Bucksnort - named after my favorite small-town name in America. It's a little town in the middle of nowhere, 60 miles west of Nashville, Tennessee. I liked the name of the town, and so named a nation after it.

So how about y'all? What inspired you to name your nations as you did?

I just pick the name that I thought best enbodied the view that the right wing has of liberals.

You were in the SCA ? I have been doing it for almost 15 years now. What Kingdom are you from ?

Well, I was gonna do a space fleet, while being starwarsy... So the Name Imperial Navy kinda popped up.

Enn comes from a story I intend to write at some stage. Same goes for Garialda, one of my puppets. My other puppets were just random names I thought up on the spur of the moment.

Well the idea behind my nation was that it was Britain after the revolution. I asked 1 Infinite Loop to make a Union Jack in red and black with a Hammer and Sickle in the centre to signify that Britain was now a workers' state and called Albion behind a nice, romantic poetic name for England-- I figured I would do the same for Scotland and Wales but I never got round to it.

My puppets are called News From Nowhere-- after the William Morris story, Ya Basta, after the Italian autonomist group and Toots and The Maytals because there was a thread on ska a while back. I was going to call it the Skatalites, but I thought the name was taken (it wasn't, as it turned out)

I also have a couple of very secret puppets that I will tell you about some day. ^_~

I chose the flag of Jamaca which looks like a big X... and well, I kinda kept my test "joke" country...

i got lapse as i always have time lapses. i forget what happened during point a and point b.

My name was entirely random, and it sounded like a proper nation name so I chose to keep it.

Misalignment seemed to be oddly appropriate, because people constantly tell me that various aspects of myself dont seem to match up, for example, I have dreadlocks BUT neither smell bad nor am I a "save the planet" type nor do I smoke pot or dress like a hippie, I'm into tuning cars and yet is also artistic and intelligent (IQ 130)... the list goes on and on

Insane homless, actually it was a typo it was supposed to be insane homeless, just a puppet nation named for someone's interpretation of a segment of my old stand up routien and I quote "You sounded like one of those crazy homeless guys in the park" guess that description sort of stuck in my head

Mine's based on the Latin word Incertus, which means uncertain, but I chose it because that word was the pseudonym the poet Seamus Heaney chose for himslef when he first started publishing poetry.

It came to late one night, when I was thinking about a new puppet. I have some other puppets too, whose names had a meaning for a special thread or so.

Watchung Hills, NJ...LOL We couldn't decide on any name, really, and so we ended up just naming ourselves after the town we met in!

The topic of Demonic Gophers came up on one of the "last one to post here wins" threads (Volume 2, if I remember correctly), and I decided to start a nation of them. I thought they'd be fun to use.... :twisted:

I named mine after a ficitous nation I used to pretend with when I was a kid. You see Rockville (a huge island at the center od huge highway network linking up every country in the world.), Tockland (A colony of France that was one of the most poswerful nations in the world. It had a monarch.... Queen Sulaira) and something starting with Via (that was like Russia, only cooler) all came together to make this Empire and.... I'm an only child, shut up!

My boyfriend used to call me his "Goddess", and I liked that... however the name Goddess was reserved. I don't mind though, because I made it into "--Goddess--" and now I'm one of the first nations on the list at the top of the forums when I'm online.

Sounds a little posh though I guess..

Ecopoetry/ecopoesis is a form of agriculture that's very eco-friendly. Ecopoeia was my attempt to turn it into a nation. Unfortunately it's virtually unpronounceable, what with all them vowels...

at the time i was working in a cafe and they made me dress up as a fairy at christmas, and then also my name is elly so i got called fairy tinkerbelly and i liked it, fairies rule!

To me, ham represents the ultimate sin, and to place a likeness ofthe ultimate sin, made of plastic, on a stick that can be waved around, sounds mighty pleasing to me.

i wanted to have my name as sadistic torture but it was taken so i chose this instead.

From a silly sounding food that I've never eaten. My next one might be Baba Ganoush. Again another food that I've never eaten, it just has a silly sounding name.

M Holloway is short for Michael Holloway.

For those of you who have read Syrup by Max Barry, Michael is Scat's real name. :wink:
