How do I say "AIM" as in AIM-9 Sidewinder missile?

Perhaps it is a silly question, but I am doing a presentation to my class tomorrow on the F/A-22. I am unsure about how to pronounce "AIM" when talking about the missiles. Is it said as a word, or as A-I-M. And what does it stand for?
Thanks,

F/A? As in...F/A-18 or Jane's Combat Simulations F/A?
I always pronounce it 'aim' as in the verb 'to aim,' but then, I'm the one that pronounces everything wrong (including semester). What class is this?

AIM stands for Air Interceptor Missile. and you pronounce it as its written. just like you "aim" a gun or something, the missile is an AIM missile.

Close. Air Intercept Missile. Truthfully, it works either way, as it is an acronym, so both A-I-M and "Aim" are commonly used. More common is the latter, however.

Thanks a lot.
By the way, I meant F/A-22. I could have sworn that I had the 22 in there before. But I guess not.
