But the cycle of Ceremonies for my tribe starts up soon so posting here may get erractic. As a tribal and clan elder I am obligated to return home to my reservation for the various ceremonies and rituals that are soon to be happening.

Course..I'm sure that some of you on here won't shed a tear at the idea that I won't be posting as much..lol...that's ok...arguments online can get heated..I just have to remember that when all is said and done I just need to sit down and play catch with my grandchildren.

We call ourselves Tsalagi...but the English and more commonly used word is Cherokee....I am of the Eastern Band...our ancestral lands are now primarily located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tenneesse/North Carolina.

I am an Atheist, I would hardly call myself "nasty" though. I respect whatever religion anyone wants to worship so long as they don't harm or discriminate against people.

Ok....let's compromise.....Christians...you can come our way and acknowledge there may be more the one way to see Truth (the Cherokee Pantheon has 25 Gods/Goddesses)....Atheists you can come our way and acknowledge that there are still universal questions that science has of yet not answered..see...I love a good compromise.

I usually describe myself as an agnostic, cause I don't believe I have the answers.

I guess I'm a "leftie" cause I think everyone should have the same "fair go" (did I mention I'm an Aussie) irrespective of their wealth or social position, and I would rather see movie stars earning millions for each movie be taxed more heavily so as to provide better health care and education for the rest of us.

Other than that, guess I'm just a cynic, and a parent who worries about the world my kids will grow in to.

It was what you said in the "Compensation" thread that told me about you being short sighted and close minded.

BTW I heard of that clan, In fact I was once the guest of another member of it. Can't remember the name of my host for the life of me though :( Met him at a pow wow in Montana. Invited me over to the house he was staying as a guest himself, after he found out I had no place to stay. The later because I had been hitchiking through the midwest on a very low budget. Told me how his grandfather was a 'dogwarrior' or 'dogsoldier' during the fight where they kicked Custer's ass :) Very interesting fella.

Far from seeing you as "right wing", I see you as one of the more open minded and enlightened people I've been fortunate to come across. You obviously put thought into issues. I have even read up a little bit about some of your Cherokee traditions and I'd like to say that reading your posts has been entertaining and inpirational. Enjoy your time with your family and community. When you have opportunity, how about sharing some of your Cherokee traditions with us (please).
