Thead killer 101
How do you kill a thread? You do it by putting up an argument that no one can refute, spam it unmearcifully, perhaps it was just to boring to begin with.

What does the '101' mean? I assume it's not an Orwellian reference.

If you can demonstrate a reproducible method for killing stupid threads, you should apply for James Randi's million dollar prize:
http://www.randi.org/
You'll well deserve it.
Seriously, though, while I've seen many effective techniques to get threads going and keep them alive, I can't see what you could post to a thread to kill it. Spamming just makes a thread larger, and there is no such thing as an argument so good that it will silence all opposition. There can never be such an argument. If you think otherwise, give me an irrefutable argument proving, say, the existence of gravity -- that is, that when I let go of an object, it will fall towards the ground. Then I'll show you what I mean.
Of course, I've often seen threads die because of general lack of interest or being locked by a mod, but I've never seen a thread die because of something one non-moderator wrote in it.
There are plenty of trolls -- not only here, but all over the Internet -- flooding discussion groups with a barrage of stupid threads. So if anyone can find a good way to kill a thread, it would be a great service to humanity -- okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little there, but it would be very good.
