Out of all these descriptions, which fits you best? [I'm trying to be broad without being to specific here so bare with me!]

Moderately conservative

First, there is one thing wrong with this entire poll. How come you have conservative and republican, but not liberal and democrat? Just a small gripe, nothing big.

But really, I'm a half-republican half-libertarain.

I think the selection is a bit off. Republicans/Conservatives are split whereas Democrats/Liberals aren't? I suppose you might be thinking the Communists are an offshoot from the Dems. Eh. I aspire to the diamond thinking, myself -- Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative, Authoritarian, Moderate.

My guess would be because no one would choose fasicst ;)

I think a better poll would have been "liberaterian" and "conservative" for the last two options (although it's not in your best interest to change it...trust me, causes all kinds of problems)

I believe it should be only Liberal, Moderate, and Conservative. I know all of you liberals will probably bitch at me, but Communism is far more liberal than it is conservative, and therefore and unnescessary category. Along with republican, which fits into conservative.

Before the days of the "southern strategy" there used to be such a thing as a moderate Republican; one who could even be somewhat socially liberal but fiscally responsible.

We called them "Rockefeller Republicans".

Now they have no party.

I consider myself a slightly left-leaning liberal.

Out of all these descriptions, which fits you best? [I'm trying to be broad without being to specific here so bare with me!]I stand firmly in the middle of nowhere and it's kind of cool. I am;

pro-workers AND pro profit
liberterian AND see the need for government intervention
prefer peace BUT not at any cost
despise 'world government' AND see the need for collaboration
pro personal choice AND pro the rights of those affected by those choices
pro quality healthcare for all AND wonder who will pay for it

I would go on but bedtime is hours past. You get the idea.

As for me, hard to say, really.
At this stage in my life, I'm what you'd call "humanitarian"
i.e. not as far-fetched as Communist and CERTAINLY no
Conservative. I believe (or at least, in my own small way) try to do my
part for the "Brotherhood of Humanity", e.g. I try to help people when they're down, in my own small way, etc. I may not always agree with folks and their ideas, but I will defend to the best of my ability their right to have those ideas.
I guess you could say I'm left-leaning, but even that doesn't take specifics into account (I can see the point of the one who "fits nicely into nowhere").
Personally, I think that the poll is too general and not specific enough.

I say "at this stage in my life" because I don't know what my
views may or may not change to in the future.

I might, as I get older, become more of a "general lefty" i.e. I want everyone to have all the rights they need and I want everyone to have a job, BUT if there's only ONE parking space, I'd kinda like to have it... 8)

There is a saying : "When you're young, you'd be an idiot not to
be left-wing, but when you're older, you'd be a FOOL not to be
right-wing", or somesuch. (I'm still young and free! :D )
Because you're out of university,
and into the work place, and having to worry about taxes, etc.

But that's just a saying I heard.

I'm an Extremist-Ultra-Conservative Republican.

In fact, I'm so right-wing, that if I were President, the hippies would be begging to have Bush back. 8)

One thing that many people don't undestand is that the Political Spectrum actually has four parts: Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative, and Authoritarian. Nazis and Fascists aren't actually Conservative, they are simply right-leaning authoritarians. Ditto Commies: True Communism is left-leaning authoritarian. However, most people on this site who say they are Communists have no idea what they are talking about. Most of them are Liberal Libertarians.

I know all those things, I was just using the typcal Fascist/Communist approach since that's probably what the poll would have been.

On such a scale, I'm a strong liberal, moderate liberatarian.

[Hadn't seen what was written before this...]

Overly simplistic categories--this thing would have to be incredibly long in order to encompass all political thought. There's an enormous gulf between anarchism and communism, and an even wider one between communism and "liberalism." Liberalism was what brought the world mass industrialisation, modern Western democracy, and the notion of personal responsibility. Thus, in contemporary terms, a "liberal" ought to be centre right, rather than purportedly centre left.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. (I can't recall whether it's Bentham or Mill who wrote that...) Essentially, I'm a utilitarian.

I'm an anarchist. I thought about putting "communist" but that's not really right, so I just didn't answer the poll.
