Celibacy
What would you do and how would you feel if you had (for some strange reason) to be celibate for the rest of your life?
I have no idea. I wonder what it is like for people who do have to do that.

I'd much rather be celibate than in some sick relationship from hell, but of course I prefer being in a happy sexual realtionship. Having experienced a number of years in each of the three situations, I can tell you that celibacy is not the worst one.
But, can a person masturbate lots and still be considered celibate? :D

There are worse things than celibacy. I was celibate until my Wedding night.
I'll probably be celibate until I pay for it. Which I don't plan on doing anytime soon, so...yeah.

I can see that it's for some people. It's just I've never gone for it. I don't think I could either. But I wouldn't go as far as suicide. I'd have to agree they're are things worse than it!

I have never understood how the same churches that condemn various things as "unnatural" can accept celibacy as fine and dandy.
To me, celibacy is most decidedly "unnatural", whether it is off the pre-marital, or post religious variety.
And, I believe, equally dangerous in both situations.
Actually, I had a pastor who did a who sermon on how sex is a good thing, in marriage, of course.
As for celibate priests, i'm not catholic, so i don't care. But, look at what has happened with some catholic priests...i don't think the celibacy is working...

The desire to reproduce is probably the most natural, human thing there is. You can't suppress it through your religion or whatever and you certainly can't force people to suppress it for their entire life.. look what happens when you try. For that reason, I'm against celibacy in the priesthood.
However, I don't think that just because its natural gives us the green light to go around having sex with anyone and raping people. We are human and the thing that sets us apart from the animals is that we have the intelligence to control our urges -- and stay a virgin til our wedding nights, or go to hell :twisted:
There is no greater test that man can endure, than giving up sex. Only few are devout enough to keep to their vow. For those that do in time it no longer becomes a test for some. It becomes a part of who they are. The rest of the world doesn’t stand a chance.
Those who are forced to be without sex aren’t celibate because there is no test. If you masturbate you aren’t celibate, because that’s just like having sex.
It has nothing to do with nature for the priests, it is a test of their devotion for their god.
