The problem with porn is that it is undervalued.
There should be more of it!
Perhaps there should be a section in the lending library.

A) I know how to hide things.

B) I don't read porn anymore. I hid my magazines too well. I can't find them.

I used to look at it in the Korean internet cafe I used to frequent. I'd have to do it late at night when I could see where other people were. When it came to dirty stories however, I'd read them all the time. Most Koreans can't read English. 8)

i'll put it this way:

i don't think it's anything to be ashaimed or embaressed about
(if and when it's any good)

except that most of what's legal is just over hyped economic
exploitation and not really worth looking at

and i damd sure wouldn't pay the kind of money they want for it

actualy erotic writing is better most of the time
and no one has to be exploited to create it

but even there you run into this so called 'family' prejudice
and the whole crappy negative impact the pseudo moral are having
on every aspect of life

eroticism is of course an 'extreme' context, but far from
a unique one.

with the threat of repercussions for expressing erotic affection
naturaly and inevitably aggressiveness is on the rise and
with it crime rates, and the
desicration of the quality of every aspect of experiential existence

i don't mean that porn has to be some kind of sacred cow or holy grail
but i do think the forces arrayed against it are having exactly the
opposite effect of what they claim to be their purpose and intention

Every Saturday morning at the record store, 'skirt man' would come in. He would wear an ill-fitting undershirt and a short, I mean short, skirt. Not a tight one, just a short one. He would read the disturbing porn, the porn I actually have a bit of a problem with, Barely Legal, Finally Legal and such. When his skirt, er, started to lift he would leave the store.

Then there was 'indian corn', named that because that's what his/her teeth looked like (dude looked like a lady) who would take a grab bag of porn, sit in the classical aisle (cause no one went there, except me unfortunetely) and masturbate.

Then theres working at movie theaters. Regular ones mind you. Where people would masturbate to 101 Dalmations (live action).

So...

I'm a scruffy. I have long hair, long 'stache, long beard (goat). I also had a girlfriend who wanted to go into lingerie stores (tasteful ones, but...) I just couldn't do it. (sad. she broke up with me. not because of that, mostly cause I'm kinda an insensitive ass) I just couldn't shake the notion that even though I'm clearly not as batshit as the afore mentioned instances, there might be someone who looks like me that is legend in that store.

And in all honesty, porn is really for alone time, if you know what I mean....

My wife's cool with me looking at online porn; trouble is I'm embarrassed to have most of it on my screen cuz it's usually so dumb looking. The worst thing about free internet porn is that you have to wade through so much unappealing crap in order to find just one or two things that are actually *erotic*! :x

My girlfriend and I often look at it together, and I'm certainly not ashamed of the fact that I look at it, but I don't view it on public access computers because I think that's just rude. I also don't often use public access computers, so it's rarely an issue.

porn is for people who arent getting any.

How then do you explain the large number of people (even married like me) who are "getting plenty" and yet still enjoy looking at porn besides?

The point is, looking at porn and having real-life sex are two completely different things - so you're comparing apples and oranges. One does not look at porn as a subtitute for sex, nor give up porn just because one has access to real sex.

So, where's the option for "I don't use porn because I'm not interested/think it's disgusting/have better things to take up my time/don't need it to get off/have a better option in my house"

My reasons of those I listed would be not interested, think it's digusting, and don't need it.

A dictionary is for people who can't spell.

Most people are too lazy. I can't BELIEVE the percentage of my classmates who don't bother to use spellcheck though. Not that I mind editing, it's just that they all use Word to type, so why not check it before printing? It takes about 3 times as long to edit by hand as to spellcheck on a computer. Talk about wasted time.

Options 3 and 4 are the honest choices for people who don't like porn. You should have checked one of those.

Porn isn't something one "needs" or doesn't "need" any more than any other kind of entertainment is. Whether one likes it or not is just a matter of personal interest, not something to be judged by holier-than-thou types.

That's just insulting. I'm not ashamed of being human. Anybody ever tried masturbating with Carmex before? Not that I expect anyone to answer that, but my point is, I'm not uptight, I'm not ashamed, I'm just not interested.

Whether one likes it or not is just a matter of personal interest,

Which is what I'm saying, and that's the reason you should have another option, because this delegates a large percentage of people to either lying completely or lying about their reasons. I don't have anything against porn or those who partake of it, as long as it's produced in an ethical manner, but with your seeming point of view I do have to call you a pervert. I don't care if you advocate porn, but if you uphold that everyone likes it naturally, well then screw you.

to answer the main question, i am not ashamed or embarassed that i watch and own porn, but i don't watch porn in public because i feel that's rude...i don't see any point in making other people needlessly uncomfortable, especially since it is far more comfortable for me to *ahem* have quality time when i'm at my own place.

Full stop, nothing more added. A straightforward and inoffensive statement, no? :)

Nothing wrong with porn unless it's paedophile. I look at porn and most of it looks like something from a butchers shop. When I see real erotica, I enjoy it, I'm a normal man (and married). Most of the great art collections in the world have erotica. Anyway, if a person looks at porn and can relieve him or her self from sexual frustration, that can only be good for them and possibly for society. I do have one proviso with 'normal' porn. It does tend to affirm in the mind (especially of weaker people) that women are lesser human beings and that their main function is to supply sex to men.

That's assuming it's porn aimed at straight men. There is some that's aimed at straight women (though not much), gay men or gay women though maybe that doesn't fit your definition of 'normal' porn.

My mother and father have been happily married for about thirty years, and it's only been a few days since they decided that my father was going to move out.

I am a thirteen year old girl, and I had arrived home from school one day about a month ago, to see what my father had left on the computer screen when my mother was not at home.
He'd been taking pictures of his penis and sending it to various women.
In his email inbox, all his emails were porn, either of him, or pictures that other women had sent to him. He had also left an instant message conversation in which he was talking to an anonymous woman, asking her to "come round" and "sit on [his] face", and she was offering him blow jobs etc.

For a couple of days I kept this from my mother, as I realized that it would destroy, or at least seriously affect their marriage. But I realized that he was still doing it, so I had to tell my mother. I found the whole thing funny, in a way. But it really hurt when I had to tell my mother. She cried.
Now their relationship is over.

My point is, I think that, although pornography is completely normal and fine, in some cases it may lead to other things such as adultery. My father said that it had started with porn, then it had lead to other things and slowly gotten more serious over time.
