Oh yes they are. Among the Nuts & Bolts section, the Gameplay and UN Forums, and the the game itself, alll of them are quite famous, and Cor is infamous as well.

These players almost never post in General though, and except for Myrth and Goober, none of them RP, and Goober does it rarely, and Myrth AFIK, only on the Europe forum.

TPE was one of the most famous players of his day, and ad a large following of devotees.

Darksye is primarily known among the older players. I was afforded the opportunity to read some of his posts before the last great purge eliminated them, but he left so long ago, that most of the players who remember him are gone.

THese last three had few posts, but their contributions (The Jessusness Ranking, for Social and Political Freedoms and Ecomonmy, The Aelenti UN Category Rankings, and the Graphical Map of UN Classifications, make their names common terms among those of us who remember who wrote what thread.

AutomagFreak is a famous RPer, who is convinced tht he is soon to become a mod. His attitude towards anybody who is not in his circle drives me crazy, but he is well undeniably well known.

Sythia was a griefer who made it months without being zapped, just by being subtle about it.

Dark Terror flamed a lot under The Bisons, and ended up DEAT. His new incarnation is Dark Terror (and something else, New Bisons oe something) and he is a prominent RPer.

So much, in fact, that I added him in the first round automatically ("famous" brings immediately to my mind Siro, Goober, and Ballo), and removed him reluctantly after I realized that he was a mod (I keep forgetting that).

I know NuMetal well, I'm just not sure that he's particuarly famous. I loved the RP that he did with Siro. Although unlike some people *cough* *cough*, I did not disrupt it by tagging it. :P :twisted:

As for these spammers, the word is infamous, and don't bother with 'em.

Only say Marathon or Beeker, they were not around long enough to devolp any sort of reputation before being DEATed.

Well I can see this informal poll is completely dominated by Generalites, but the most famous nation BY FAR has only been mentioned once in this entire thread: Francos Spain.

If you consider even Myrth a mod wannabe, then I wonder what your criterion are. Myrth has been helping to make NS a better place for as long as I've been here, until recently without any recognition(now he has two stickies and a link to his nation in the news).
I should point out that:

They are not looking for new mods.
I have heard several mods say that they have too many.
At the moment everything is running smoothly on NS, and hence I have no logical reason to wish to be a mod.
Even if they were, and even if I did, there are dozens of better candidates who are better at being flexible, open minded, and cool headed.

Were I offered the position right now, even if the telegram was flattering, (as they apparently are) my first obvious reaction would be the same as with any rare opportunity ("I'd better take the chance before it is gone").

My second, sane reaction would be "If I had a once in a lifetime oppotunity to become a serf in the Hittite empire, would I do it? Sure it would be a unique experience, but it would be unpleasant, and I would accomplish nothing of importance.

I like volunteering (well when it involves children), but at the moment, I can accomplish more as a player than any new mod could. Not to mention that the n00bs would be forced to deal with as a mod are far more immature than the newbies that one deals with as a player.

And then of course, as a player, one has much more free time (Since Sirocco became a GM, he hasn't even had time for a single fish fight) and is able to maintain a (alightly) lower profile. Why sacrifice that to no benefit to the NS community?

Of course as nobody is going to be offered a mod position in the forseeable future form everything that I have seen and heard, so it really is pointless to be discussing this.

phaaaw. sirocco is a player, and hes still a mod, and pretty damn famous. I'm decently famous, just not so much in the threads you like, maybe. i had my own little spot in the volcano, and i was the biggest person in international incidents before i discovered the joys of general. :D I'd call NuMetal famous, cause hes so damn funny with his RPs without being a nutball like LB (who i prolly should have included on my list). also the wierdo michael jackson dude and the guy that did all those goatze spam attacks are famous, though in the wrong way *grin*Siro is definitley a key player, but a mod too. So much, in fact, that I added him in the first round automatically ("famous" brings immediately to my mind Siro, Goober, and Ballo), and removed him reluctantly after I realized that he was a mod (I keep forgetting that).

I know NuMetal well, I'm just not sure that he's particuarly famous. I loved the RP that he did with Siro. Although unlike some people *cough* *cough*, I did not disrupt it by tagging it. :P :twisted:

As for these spammers, the word is infamous, and don't bother with 'em.

Only say Marathon or Beeker, they were not around long enough to devolp any sort of reputation before being DEATed.
