I'm American and dislike American politics. I also dislike the English alliance with america and fear that it will result in another empire that the sun will never set on.

while, yes scottish information is rather limited, mostly because of its attachment to englad... braveheart was one kickass movie. bagpipes are pretty shweet too. oh, and an empire that the sun never sets on, I cant wait. (maybe we'll call it oceana, rename the UK 'airstrip one', yes, this part is slightly sarcastic, not much though)

Well America, if you don't know much about Scotland your not missing much. We have a lot of hills and very little else. Not even politics. Our "parliamant" is a kiddy-on one that has to ask Westminister (England) before we can do anything. And Braveheart kinda made up just about everything.

Still fun though (Braveheart that is)

Since when are americans good drinkers? I am from canada and when i go down there i have to drink twice as much beer to get drunk, because its just piss water. And when my yankee buddys come and visit me they get shitfaced after like 4 beer, because they can't handle the high alcohal content!

It is american beer is a lot lower and its hilarious when they come up here to get drunk because they always pass out at like 9pm because they had 6 whole beers. I drink at least 14.

I was born in Inverness. I am just cynical because these days we don't have very much to be proud of.

It was the Scots who were as responsible as anyone for the Enlightenment. The Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh were far more the repositories of knowledge in the 18th centurty than Oxford or Cambridge (much like small Catholic schools are today over Harvard and Yale, so far as the Humanities go -- Harold Bloom certainly agrees). But to most Americans, rivalries between the irish/Scots/English/Welsh mean little. I have no opinion on the Welsh or Irish, but I love Brits, whether English or Scottish.

I prefer scotch and soda on the rocks, or sometimes an absolutely evil concoction a friend came up with called gasahol. I know it has Jack Daniels and Mt Dew in it... not sure what else but he makes it in a gallon milk jug. Yeehaaaaw!

ok ill tell every1 what the deal is with Northern Ireland. There are 2 extremes (republicans (irish) and loyalists (british) ), these are the ones that shot ppl. They are both as bad as each other and they both believe what they r doin is right. But for years (1960s/70s) the Catholic community was discriminated against, much the same as the african americans in the 1960s. We too had a civil rights campaign but a lot of (innocent) Catholics were killed by the police and the British army (e.g Bloody Sunday!). Anyway the IRA retaliated and killed loads of ppl and police officers and that is how the modern troubles began. The fighting still continues although it is not as bad as it used 2 be. This is probably a slightly biased view but i no ppl that have been killed or whos family members have been killed by loyalists. i reckon we should just get a united ireland but peace is more important in the near future. Its all the english ppl's fault! sorry but omg, stop stealin peoples countries!!!!
