It'll likely be a little while before anybody comments on it. Remember, by the time that most people find this forum we could write the FAQ. I'm sure that somebody's used it by now though.

Actually as I recall it these days began around early August, only about ten months ago. There was the great purge of late July. THen people began chat threads to recooperate their losses. And then chat became outright spam, and the spam began to flow into any threads that it didn't drown out.

Whoa, you're kidding?

I can't have been using the forums longer than you, can I? It seems like you've been here forever.

Of course Late July basically is forever to me. My time on NS is divided into four periods: before the purge when I was a n00b Generalite. Between the purge and the time that I posted the Tech FAQ when I was becoming a Tech forumer yet posted in a lot of other forums, between the Tech FAQ and the Gameplay forum when I was lid Techie, and after the [/i]Gameplay[/i] forum was installed.

My n00b era effectively ended with that purge in late July, and I still look ack on my innocent, carefree, wholesome, Marathon-flaming, n00b days with nonastalgia.

Well, I started posting as soon as I was created but then NS became very hard to access let alone get into the forums. Then, that was sorted out, but I could never post (invalid_session). I stayed out of the forums until May (because I went on study leave) and I started to go back into them more. I managed to get a 1,000 posts before I went to Thailand at the end of July. Then, throughout August, I wasn't at home and so September came and I started posting again.

Ahh. So of course, you *have* nearly always had more posts than I, if not a higher post per day count, and I must have passed or at least neared you briefly in August, and so noticed you near me in the memberlist (back then, I'd check the memberlist quite regularly to check on where I was, now I only do it after a major purge to see who's moved about).

Yes, I used to look at it all the time too...that's because I was moving up so fast like 10 posts equals 5 places.

You had passed me, probably during August, and then I remember passing you about October.

I don't like the fact that they automatically take you back into the thread rather then the option of going to the forum after posting. Also, I don't like the colour, the emoticons or the fact that the forum is wider than my screen and so I have a horizontal scroll - all unlike before.

The colour is plain and businesslike.

On the old Forums, didn't it give you a choice and if you didn't decide after something like five seconds it took you back to the thread?

Another thing, the quote and make a thread buttons are really obscure.

And when you try to quote your own posts, or someone who has quoted you posts, it doesn't let you. So it makes your quote messed up!

Just wanted to pop in and say that I've read both Syrup and JG and I thought both were very good. It's scary: the whole "loyalty program" thing that's taken to extremes in JG is coming true--more and more companies are getting together to "entice" customers to stick with one or another product--buy a DVD, get a movie ticket to a certain theatre to see the sequel; the travel industry is totally integrated with the credit card industry; drink Sprite, get a movie rental at Blockbuster, etc....

I'm sure it won't get as bad as it does in JG, but it's still a worrying trend.

Another one who loves JG, lol!

Well, Jolt's vB, old server was phpBB, that's part of the reason. Also, there were plenty of complaints about the old layout. And, we really had minimal control over the new sceme. [violet] and/or Max may have been involved, but the rest of us weren't.

Smilies can be included in your reply box by fiddling with your Profile. There's a setting for "Standard" editor and "Advanced" editor (or something to that effect). Pick Advanced.

Just like to say that i hate Harry Potter, and love! Enders Game.

Enders game is realy addictive but still, as many books are, ruined by its predictable cliche ending.

A good childrens book in the windsinger trilogy.

If this is not allowed then say so but i just thought i would name some good reads.

If i see your book in waterstones i will buy it, i only buy things of the highstreet :P.

Yes! Finally I hear someone mention Ender's Game. It's a most astonishing book to which I associated with the current world and humans. Also interesting that Orson predicted the future communities of The Nets and their high use around the world.
