In Jennifer Government, after John Nike has been ordered to head to the British territories to oversee the hostile takeover of ExxonMobile, he tells his personal assistant to tell Jennifer that he has gone to Cuba or some other place that he would actually visit (referring to Cuba being warm, sunny, and beach filled whereas Britain is cold, wet, and rainy). Therefore, since there's no way in hell John would visit a Non-USA country (Even Billy NRA wouldn't), logic would follow that Cuba has since abandoned its 'communist' ways and joined the the USA. This actually isn't that hard to believe, since pretty much everything except Europe, China, and parts of Africa have joined and there's no way Cuba would be able to support itself when the entire American continent, essentially all land within several thousand miles, is extremely capitalist. But the back cover contradicts this.
On the back of Jennifer Government, at least on the back of the edition that I have, there's a map of the world and the status (USA, Non-USA, partially, etc.) of the various nations across the globe is indicated with color. The entire American continents is USA affiliated, except for Cuba. It's hard to notice, since it is quite tiny compared to the surrounding land masses, but I'm pretty sure it's there. Cuba is a Non-USA nation.
So why would John Nike list it as one of the places he would actually go, when it is actually one of the few places left on the planet where he would definitely not go? It is possible that he simply didn't know it wasn't USA affiliated, Billy NRA is shocked to find out that there are any Non-USA counties left in existence, but that doesn't quite add up. John might have been evil and mean, but he was smart and he was good at his job. Knowing what nations are USA affiliated and what aren't would be vital for a marketing executive. Afterall, if you make an entire advertising campaign geared towards one nation it'd be a waste of time to learn that you can't do business there.
So, why would John go to Cuba?
