im on holiday at the moment and i finally bought Jeniffer Government to read on the holiday. I thought it was brilliant, especially the contract term which allows your company to sue you if your replacment is less competent then you. My favourite charchter by far was Billy NRA, the guy just wanted to go skiing but ended up mixed up in a whole bunch of crises including being made to try to assasinate the president. My dad has now started reading it and hes loving it aswell.

I loved Billy NRA too! Especially the fact that he finally found his ski instructer :)

It is a great book. I tried to convert my brother, though, and it didn't work so well. Hmm.... brothers! :\

I loved the book as well, likewise my brother doesn't seem to want to read it. But I managed to read it about 3 times over in the first month of buying it. I quiet liked Billy, but I found myself reading quickly through his chapters, for some reason.

I just read it recently, it was very good. Billy is a pretty funny character actually. Only thing thats been bothering me is, I wonder what happened to Violet after the book ends.

Unfortunately, Max says there won't be one.

Personally, I liked VP John Nike.

A colleague of mine told me just before school ended, "I'm reading this awesome book I think you'd enjoy called Jennifer Government..."

He was blown away when I told him about this site.

I bought JG and Songwriting for Dummies at the same time (I write song lyrics in some of my time away from NS) and read the latter book first. As a result, it took me a while to get started with JG and it took me quite a bit of doing to get into it at first. I ended up enjoying it though.

The funny thing is one of my friends on LiveJournal has a picture icon that looks freakingly similar to the eye on JG. I mentioned it to him and he said he'd heard of the book and wanted to read it!

I guess word has gotten around.

Hey Kat, did you ask your colleague how he found out about JG?

I liked Buy. I thought he the best! I didn't like Hack though. I'm still secretly hoping he dies, or somesuch. I'm only halfway through-ish, but so far so good.

I love the concepts that Max explores, I especially like the idea of Corporate run schools.

Nope :D

If there was a sequel she'd probably have to be Jennifer Mitsui Government, or Jennifer Government Mitsui, and her daughter would have three!!! last names.

Erm, why would she have to have those names?

Erm, why would she have to have those names?

People take the names of the corporations they work for, so she'd still be Jennifer Government and he'd still be Buy Mitsui.

It's maddening that Max wrote the epilogue without using it to write a sequel. He could have used the situation perfectly to set it up.

Erm, why would she have to have those names?
Well she wouldn't necessarily, but her daughter would, they took their parents names, and then obviously the school name.

I finished the book last night - it was great! I didn't like Violet though...

I still think Buy, and to a lesser extend Billy NRA, are the best characters!

I was a big fan of Jennifer herself, however, I would've liked to see more about the backstory of her character than her just being the center of action throughout the novel.

I liked it too. I found it hard to follow at times, but that's because everything is so dynamic, so fast.

I was laughing at the bit where companies where offering discounts if you brought in competitors products. But I wasn't laughing when I went into the city and saw it for real. In a local Game store, they were selling Gamecubes for 99p provided you brought in a PS2 or XBox and game in exchange. Kind of scared me that Max is so on the ball.
