Jennifer Government in the UK

The Fifth Republic

Hello,

I live in the UK and an FAQ with Max said that Jenifer Government was only available in the US. Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK I can get the book?

Thanks

In the UK, you can get it at bookbrain.co.uk, amazon.co.uk, or whsmith.co.uk online, or in most commercial bookstores.

Thank you, I found it in my local branch of Waterstones.

It is a fantastic book, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Seven percent of players have bought the novel Jennifer Government, 12% plan to, and 36% are considering it. That's effectively half of all players still making up their minds, although the book is only available in the US and Canada so far (and there only in hardcover).

This was the survey from early 2003, that's why I though it wasn't available in the UK.

Things changed between now and then.

Quite a lot has changed! I would suggest reading the news section as you will then get up to date with what has occured.

A map of the world JG style. Did you get the paperback when it first came out?

I bought a UK paperback copy (it was either '02 or '03 print) and it had the map in the inside cover. It seems crazy to me if some versions haven't got it as it's a good way to get across the premise of the book's world which is so key to it.

Anyway I thought the book was excellent, although I would liked to have known what happened next. It seems to hint to me that the world was considering moving back towards the old goverment style, but I might have misunderstood. But I would say it's a "24"-esque (in that it's fast paced, with different charecters following different plot threads at once, which are all interelated) thriller with a pleasing satirical edge :)

It was the super size paperback ( I cant see the logic in them, Id prefer a HB or normal PB)
so it should be an early enough one.
Damn.

Yeah, the map didn't come out until the later one (when the proper size paperback came out).

Got it from good ol' Waterstones in Southport of all places... On my way through it for the second time now, definitely agree there's got to be a sequel or a followup set in the same "world".

Max doesn't appear to have any plans of doing a sequel, and I don't think that's a bad thing. I'd hate for him to get stuck in a rut. While the JG world is very interesting, I'd rather sit thinking what else could be done, as opposed to having him do another book and run out of material half-way through.

His third book, The Company, is apparently in the process of being vetted by publishers. There should be some news about it on his website.
