Dear Max

It was suggested on teh Gernal Forum, that some people would like to arrange for some NS style merchandise (T shirts, mugs etc).. I was just wondering who designed the logo and whether it's likely we could get permission to use it?

Click here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66950)

Anyway, we already have T-shirts. I think that a whole new range of JG is just about to start, especially if the T-shirts sell well.

Where do we get the t-shirts?

There are some NationStates T-shirts for sale at CafePress:

http://www.cafeshops.com/nationstates

or see the News page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=news) for details.

The little circle island logo is Max-designed, but it's not available in a resolution suitable for printing. It would come out very blocky on a T-shirt.

I don't see Jen Govt merchandise happening because the rights to that eye-with-the-barcode-tattoo are owned by the publisher.

That image might be better to use...

That's only a 225x255 image... it would be very small when printed.

It would be ok as just a small emblem on a t-shirt or on a mug.

I'll have a look at enlarging it with Photoshop or one of my other packages, I should be able to compensate for pixellation...

Maybe a breast-pocket image?

That image though isn't really very representative of JG, I think.

Actually, I meant the 'Nationstates' logo-y think on the top left of my screen!

No disrespect intended, but the T shirts on the cafe express aren't hugely exciting.. how about 'Nationstates logo on front (or arm) and then a 'witty' Nationstates ish caption on the back?

e.g 'I think therefore I spam'

or 'Born to N00k'

++edit++

You can always make your own, with a print off of your national flag and/or description on the back if you wanted. And, of course, "I n00ked J00" on the front. ;)

Ah, but that requires effort and imagination.... :P

Are you bein sarcastic? I think it would make Max quite a bit more money than the current design.

I'm semi-joking, but not being sarcastic.

There may be some copyright issues involved.

And how would it make hm money if we make our own shirts?

Doesn't Max have NationStates copyrighted?

I'm sure he probably does, but does he have your flag copyrighted? :P

Anyhow, it would be good advertising and a conversation starter to boot (especially with the umm...interesting flag designs that some people use...).

Hmm. But of course you could also buy one of Max' shirts, then screenprint an addition on the back or elsewhere...

As I think I may have mentioned in the email that I sent him (in the eight questions that he didn't put on his website), I'm not paying $20 for a T-Shirt, when that's a sweatshirt price, and it's a sweatshirt that I want anywhen.

You will be flabbergasted at the amount I pay for a T-shirt. :D

Yeah, the T-shirts need something a tad more distinctive. Even if the http://www.nationstates.net/images/island_small.jpggoes on in B/W centered below the government type line it would help or the words,

http://www.nationstates.net/images/smalllogo.jpg,

to give it a bit more punch. There's a bunch of graphic artists here -- they came out in force for the birthday cards. Max, you should ask them for some help and see if they can come up with something catchy and cheap that can be added to the words you already have, or if you haven't printed up anything, yet, to do a complete B/W or single-color design.
