A slight inaccuracy I just noticed...

In real life, McDonalds serves Coca Cola. However, in JG, McDonalds and Pepsi are in US Alliance, meaning that McDonalds would serve Pepsi.

Companies are constantly switching allegiance, in this world and in NS.

Fair point, but what are the chances of two of the biggest corpirations in the world suddenly switching allegiances to each other's main competition? (I understand that the book isnt set in our world, but I still say it's inaccurate :P)

Hmm, good point Nibbleton.

But then, don't forget that this is an ultra-capitalizt world where I expect that one corporation (i.e: McDonalds) would change what brand of drinks it serves at an instance (in order to get the highest amount of profit).

Ah, I suppose that would make sense, Catholic Europe.

Well, the real problem is that Pepsi owns KFC, Taco Bell, A&W, and Pizza Hut, which compete.

Then again, both McDonald's and Burger Thing both serve Coke.

Then again, again, about 15 years about BK switched from Pepsi to Coke, so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to have switched over to Pepsi, at some point. Also, with all the companies drawing skirmish lines with the alliances, it's entirely possible that BK and Coke joined TA, forcing McDonald's and Pepsi to become partners by their sudden membership in USA.

I hope that makes sense... I'm a little tired.

It makes sense. I particularly liked this part:

Then again, again,

That sounds like something I'd say even if I wasn't tired. lol And I agree with you, as well. Although I have to admit I'm accustomed to having a certain soft drink with a certain meal...Mountain Dew (which I drink way too much of) would seem strange with McDonalds after years of washing it down with Coke. I'm not that big of a fast food fan anyway, but I think that it's similar to the never-ending milk/pizza debate.

Well, that's pretty much how capitalism works now, IMO. In a ruthless capitalist world it would definetly be like that, (again) IMO.

I noticed this discrepancy too. I also thought of a possible reason for this.
As far as I can remember there is no mention of Burger King or any of those other stores that Pepsi owned. Come to mention it I don't remember Coke being mentioned either. What if Pepsi took over Coke and after they became the one largest soda pop company in the world and joined US alliance maybe they turned over all of the Stores they owned into McDonalds?
Just a thought, Comments?

That's possibly quite true. Takeovers would be common (like the attempted ExxonMobil one in the book). Taking over rivals would be a good way to increase their profits by huge amounts.

exactly...
You know I think it would be really interesting for someone to write more on that.
Something like the world of Jennifer Government.

Yeah. I want to know how a depression would affect that world.

Actually, Pepsi spun off all the restaurant-related businesses several years ago. They are now part of Tricon Global Restaurants.

You see...if this is the real world imagine what it would be like in JG's world!

Actually, Burger King is mentioned in the book. In the end, when Billy NRA hooked up with the coupon girl after a riot is started because she's handing out Burger King coupons in a UA city.

Also, Coke was mentioned because one of the attacks that Hack Nike took part in was to paint the message "Coke Causes Stomach Cancer" across a Coke billboard.

I can't remember exact chapter numbers and I am being too lazy to look them up at the moment.
