God, Yahweh, Allah, Buddha?
Caveat: I'm not about to promote and sect, creet or order. I'm merely pointing out an interesting gap in the book.
There's no mention of "God", religion or spirituality of any kind. I can see how you'd ignore or dismiss this if you were agnostic or atheist, but as a storyteller I'm puzzled by the lack of ANY mention of it. People always seek answers to "higher" questions, so I doubt that religion has vanished from the face of the world in JG.

Oh yeah...
So I would say that God is mentionned in an indirect way.

Plenty of books don't mention God or any deity at all. The character's religion, or lack thereof, isn't a primary source of motivation for them, save the aforementioned Mormon.
Besides, if you'll remember, the Church has become a sort of appendix of Capitalizt society since it's not profit-motivated.

I guess they probably outlawed it!

Remember that the Government has very little real (if any) power in JG and the Corporations go out of their way to ensure that as little law as possible exists so I doubt that they banned religion... Instead Consumerism borderlines is the religion for the main population in JG and that is what the Corporations want (both in JH and in RL), I feel that something like the Church of Mormon (and all other faiths) would of just been pushed into the background by the Corporate PR's.

Or perhaps the corporations banned it so that they can get more work out of people. :?

Nah. Religion tends to make people happy, and happy workers work harder, longer, and for less money.

It might have vanished into the personal realm, that is, consumerism taking the place of religion as a national institution, and religion itself being squeezed out of the public domain and being restricted to people's private lives. Not by any legislation but simply at the social/cultural level.
Alternatively, religion could have been privatised, with the main churches acting as corporations in their own right, selling their religious product rather like travel agents sell "experience" holidays today. Personally, this interpretation is more in keeping with the theme of the novel.
Just my speculation, of course.

Perhaps...or the Vatican has just become a corporation as well.

The church either bought out or a corporation itself

The Church wouldn't do that though. His Holiness is quite left-wing and the Church as a whole ha become a champion of the workers and poor (such as liberation theology, i.e: Archbishop Oscar Romero).

And I seem to recall one of the USA Liaisons praying, either during one of John's shpiels or when Jennifer showed up.

It was an ExMo executive, when John was about to shoot CEO Nathan.
