WARNING: *!!SPOILER ALERT!!*

I've been think how is NationStates related to Jeniffer Government? The book presents a highly congealed in which the USA is slowly “merging”with other countries and headed ultimately towards a united USA world, yet NationStates is a nation simulator which is about a lot of small nations around the world. So I came up with this hypothesis (which is probably wrong) on how JG and NS are related.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After reading Jeniffer Government, I started thinking that maybe the NationStates world is what develops after the events of JG. Remember 2/3rds of the government's upper echelons were killed by the NRA attack on the 737 and that John Nike asked General Li “How much muscle can you get into the major cities in three days?” Which implies that battles like the one in LA were taking place all over the USA territories. The Government, already badly crippled, would be powerless to much of anything except try to mediate the dispute.

In this chaos it seems that small NationStates might arise all over the USA territories. Due to lack of any sort government control these small NationStates may arise to bring back peace and control to their areas and later evolve into fully functional independent nations.

At least this how I think that NS and JG are related, I could be utterly wrong.

Here's what Max put in the FAQ...
Because it seemed like a fun idea, and a way to let people know about my novel Jennifer Government. With luck, some of the people who play NationStates will buy the book. Then my publisher will think I am a left-field marketing genius, instead of a chump who blew four months on a web game when he should have been working on his next novel.

Chump or left-field marketing genius? That is the question...

So, basically, NS and JG are related through capitalist advertising.

Also from the FAQ:
Jennifer Government is a novel by Max Barry, on which NationStates is based. The book is set in an ultra-privatized world, of the sort you can create in NationStates, if you're mean enough.
The world of Jennifer Government is an extreme version of a particular set of political ideals; in NationStates your nation is an extreme version of your own political ideals. ;)

You mean people think my nation is an extreme version of my views? I think more people have created nations in there own image than it might be comfortable to it.
