I just got and finished my copy of Jennifer Government(Thursday afternoon and Thursday night, respectively) and I couldn't help but notice the character Violet... and the admin [violet], is there any connection?

Urm, yes. I think [violet] has styed herself (or created the the name [violet]) on the character Violet (of the book). Although I could be totally wrong.

LOL since reading the book, I've been wondering just HOW MUCH of our [violet]'s temperament is like Violet ExxonMobil's.

If I'm not mistaken, Max actually based the character on the real life [violet].

[violet] is not as evil as the literary Violet, of course. She does an excellent job of keeping things running. You have certainly not had the ultimate computer virus downloaded onto your computers.

But what if in playing NationStates, you have downloaded a virus of the mind?

[violet] is wonderful. [violet] is most holy. [violet] is not evil nor does [violet] brainwash us.

Amazing how often a reference, even an indirect one, to Neal Stephenson's Snowcrash can be made ;-)

If yiou haven;t read Snowcrash that statement won't make any sense - in which case it should be read at the first opportunity.

Yeah, Snow Crash is excellent. And Violent is evil.
If you need anymore obvious facts pointing out, just ask.

Well, as this is the Jennifer Government-based game, I'd expect a couple mods to be named after characters in the book...

Who/what is Snowcrash?

A book by Neal Stephenson (Max lists it amongst his favourites on his website) set in a future where corporations have essentially repalced government in many areas, and what's left of the government struggles to be effective. Hence the comparisons between Snowcrash and JG.

I wont give anything of the story away but just encourage you to read it. It's a truly magnificent book.
