Just got this Book From the Library Yesterday...

And I can't put it down! The only time I stopped reading it is when I'm working, eating, Sleeping, and playing Video Games.

Max Barry is a Genius! Plain and Simple. I'm at Part 3 right now. It's like a Matrix-Grand Theft Auto Crossover. It kicks arse. I can't wait to get Syrup when it comes out. One thing I lime about non-american authors (I'm american myself) is they don't hold anything back. Mr. Barry's Pre-story note was pretty touchy (and funny!) as well.

(SPOLIERS BELOW)

I cannot wait to continue reading it after work. I got to the part where Jennifer arrested an NRA guy who turns out to be Billy, the guy who took a vacation in Australia and got himself in a whole lotta trouble. Now It's at the part where Hack just bought a gift for Violet and has arriuved home.

Don't spoil anything for me! I wanna see what happens next!

I know what you mean. When I bought the books, I just couldn't put them down, the only thing else I did was eat and check up on my new NS nations. (Of course that was a while ago.)

I read books very slowly, but I read this one in 2 days because it was just such a good book.

Ditto what Catholic Europe said for me.

I just finished the bok 15 minutes before midnight last night. It was killer! Througout the entire book it was VERY diffucult to anticipate what was going to happen niext. Just when you think you've figured something out, someone comes along and changes things up. XD

I give it a 100/10 and REALLY hope they make a movie out of it.

I think they probably will make a movie out of it - lets just hope they stick to the content of the book and don't change things around.

Well you know they will change it, instead lets hope they don't ruin the feeling of the book when they do change it.

Hopefully Max will take them to court if they do.

Generally, when an author signs a deal like that, they are agreeing to a certain amount of change. And a movie can never really set the same mood a book does anyway.

That's so true. Movies are always different than the books, or the books different from the movies. I hope that they try and get the mood partially right though!

I suppose so, but they should try not to change it from the book, it could ruin it otherwise.

I think we should just face the facts, they will change it, probably a fair amount. The reason they have to is because of the medium through which they are telling the story. In a book you are reading it and imagining whats going on, you are far more free to do things when reading than when you watch a movie, when you watch a movie though you deliver information in a different way, you don't always need to comment on things like you do in a book, you can show us what needed to be said. I think that if the Director is even halfway skilled at his job he will still make a good movie out of the book, we will hate the changes they made because we are the hardcore fans but it will still be a good movie and it will make Jennifer Government a bigger book and probably help out NS too.

It doesn't make it any easier to face the facts knowing that they will change nor is it going to make me immediately like it.

Exactly. When you read a novel the author leaves it to you to decide how the story plays out. In a movie the director/producer/whoever decides all that. I don't think that many Book-movies stand up to the novel it came from.

I agree totally because it is not your view that is being protrayed but somebody else's which you may not like or agree with.

Seeing as Max is most likely just selling the movie-rights, he won't have much say in the final thing. Unless of course he's smart and refused to let them make the movie unless he's made Executive Producer

Lets hope Max is smart then!
