What do you think? What will be his follow up to JG be like? What will it be about?

I would hope that he is working on something completely different. Perhaps a non-fiction look into cyber-world of NS.

I'm sure whatever he's working on will be worth while. I just hope he's doing something. My biggest fear would be that he's been sucked into this game like the rest of us. Maxtopia probably has 100 puppets trolling the forums daily.

Perhaps he could like a little documentary book on all of us NS players, highlighting our arguments, the mods etc!

That would be heavy!

I hope this doesnt happen! I want a sequel!

I would wager it would be marketing related, like JG and Syrup both were. I'm not quite sure where he'd go next. I'm kinda guessing something completely unrelated to either of his existing books, however.

Probably, perhaps a different genre? Romance?!

Erm..comedy?

One could argue that Syrup and JG were comedy, and thus that wouldn't be a genre change...

Actually, I get the feeling that future books will have very similar feelings to Syrup and JG. Writers don't usually change their style all that much.

Do we know whether or not he is actually writing a new book or not?

One would imagine that sometime in the future he will. I don't know if he currently is or not but it would make sense for him to write another book in the future.
It will probably be something similar to his two previous books but have a unique twist that makes it different and special like each of his other books were, but I think he will keep to the same theme.

I suppose the theme that JG and Syrup are written in has worked for him.

Why does it have to be one specific genre? JG is clearly a comedy, satire, romance, action, political, docu-drama. Syrup is all that without the action. Both books are insightful and give the reader a glimpse into the "mindset" of marketing. I am looking forward to future works by Mr. Barry, and I would hope that he won't limit himself to one genre. He has skill, talent, and that elusive quality that makes his work so relevent, a keen ability to observe.

I think that it will be something about an over controlling government. (YO MAX! When are those books gonna reach the west coast?)

Heh, the world does need a NationStates book. :)

There is a new Max Barry novel on the way... there should be an announcement about it in the next few months. Several guesses here are scarily close, though. ;)

Hmmm... so the book is going to be similar to:

i) A satire on online communities (based on us?)
ii) Something to do with Miranda Hewlett-Packard

I mailed Max a while ago asking about a sequel, and he said the only way there would be a Jennifer Government 2 is if a sequel to the film is made.

As I have already said, I mailed Max regarding a sequel, and the only possibility of a sequel will come if the movie is a success and they decide to make a sequel to that.
