Is the barcode on the cover the real Malibu Barbie barcode?

I'd wondered the same myself, but I don't plan to go looking for a Malibu Barbie to find out.
I am thinking of taking my copy of the book into Target and scaning it with the price checker to see what it does.

But that actually might work. Probably not, but maybe.......

It's actually the barcode for the book (in the US, at least). Check the back of the book; see how it's the same. ;)
It is the same in Canada, except for the last number. I actually checked that as soon I bought the book a few weeks ago :p
Very Clever indeed.

Well, the numbers matched nicely and all, but the lines are completely different...
On the Australian edition even the numbers don't match.
Use a barcode (upc) generator and find out for yourself's.

My guess is that's the creative vision of an artist at the publishing company run amok. The artist was told what numbers he had to use, but just put the lines wherever he wanted.
Well, the numbers matched nicely and all, but the lines are completely different...Maybe the curvature makes them look different...

I took that into account, but the thick-thin patterns were different as well. The warping shouldn't effect that.
