UPDATER: WA player organisations

If you would like your WA-related player group to be mentioned in the Discussion and Chat (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11281160&postcount=7) section of the stickied World Assembly Reference Guide, please post an up to date link and brief description here.

The organisation must have a specific purpose related to WA activities and may include very general policy commentary (eg, Maritime WA Nations or WA Non-Human Sapients), but military alliances, defence pacts, etc, belong in International Incidents.

The activity of these groups may not be RPd here. They may be RPd in NS, II or offsite. Invitation-only groups need not apply.

May I note that recently there has been some WA-related social groups (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/group.php) that may be worth of note. The rules should be the same for inclusion.

With respect, the latter of those has 2 members. In the case of the former, which I'd forgotten about, I would like to ask that my name be removed from the list, as I have not consented to participated in your 'ranking' system.

Good grief, I'd forgotten about that. Please remove me too.

Here I thought we had freedom of speech! What's wrong with ambassadors classifying other ambassadors? It's not an official ranking... more like what you find in tabloids.

I see no problem with putting up a link to the Jolt social groups thread. Players can pick'n'mix once they get there, so let's not turn this into a discussion of each group's relative qualities -- ie, can it, guys.

As far as I'm concerned, freedom of speech went out with the sentence "The people who appear below are known as the Elite of the World Assembly." I'm not known as that, nor do I wish to be.

After that I will drop it, and if no action is taken, I'll just have to live with that.

My objection is:
- The list promotes the idea that the only index of success or standing within the WA is the sheer number of proposals one passes.
- In my opinion, one good resolution outweighs two mediocre ones, and no bad resolutions is better than some bad resolutions.
- Furthermore, it implies the only way to contribute to the WA is to pass resolutions, which some people (particularly those who can only have 'observer' status if they share a computer, or who lack the time to TG) cannot do. You yourself would be an example of one of the WA's most illustrious contributors - despite not having passed a resolution.
- Above all, it promotes an irresponsible attitude that simply submitting lots of proposals is the way to get recognised, instead of taking the time to work on one single one.

That is why, absent any disclaimer, I do not wish to be associated with the project.

- matter dropped -

I accept your complaint and I have trashed the list because it would be rather one-sided. If you know a better idea for my social group drop me a line. Sorry for the delay.

Cheers.

So, are there no new WA-related groups that want to be mentioned? Or have any of those linked in the original thread definitely died, or been revived, or moved?

Well, I'm currently constructing the World Assembly Liberal Consortium, but I haven't quite polished it up yet.

EDIT: Do 'recruitment' posts for WA player organization belong in Gameplay or the WA forum?

Ergh ... they belong in Gameplay. But if you put 'em there, and some newbie thinks it says that only by joining your organisation can he join the WA, I'm just letting you know, mind, the sky will fall. On you. So be careful how you word it.

A link in your sig will probably do the trick for you in the WA, and the link can also go in the sticky.

Understood. I've polished the group up a bit, here's the details:

Link: http://walc.co.cc (DNS currently propagating...)
Name: World Assembly Liberal Consortium
Description: The World Assembly Liberal Consortium exists to unite the delegations of the nations of the World Assembly that seek to advance a liberal agenda through the vehicle of international law.

Ergh ... they belong in Gameplay.Actually, threads for UN organizations have been allowed here in the past:

While I agree that most RP associated with these groups belongs on an offsite forum, simply encouraging more participation in the WA community (including offsite activities) is rather what this forum is for, no?

True (sorry about the delay, I just saw this). But Glen-Rhodes was asking where recruiting threads belong, and where they belong is Gameplay.

Whether they'll do much good there is another question, but I'd still prefer to see them posted there because every forum is supposed to be open to every poster, and advertising in Gameplay is how you get to every poster. That one post might be the event that lures into the WA the small, dusty-footed Generalite who will accidentally draw the sword from the stone and ... uh, sorry, wrong mythos.

Anyway, if this thread hasn't advertised GR's mob enough in the WA, he's doing it wrong.
