Cryonics

...or other forms radical Life Extension.
I had hoped my last draft would bear fruit. It was not to be. So it goes.
Next on my mind queue was, and now is, the subject of Cryonics.
I must inform I am very knowledgeable on the issue.
So before I embark on another journey, I candidly ask anyone who will care to answer:
1) Do you know what Cryonics is?
2) If yes, what does it do (or doesn't)?
3) Do you have any idea of the incurring costs?
4) Do you have any informed religious objection?
5) Do you have any informed objection whatsoever?
6) Will this cause a circ... oh, beat it. It always does.
7) Does your Nation claim progress, expertise or mastery in this area?
Thanks,
Yours truly,
Eluneyasa

...or other forms radical Life Extension.
The Kaldorei of Eluneyasa once bound their lives to a giant tree that they grew out of a magical life, which made them immortal for 10,000 years before they were forced to give the immortality back to destroy the leader of a demonic army and his undead minions. Does that count as radical life extension?
Yes, this does mean that my NS nation has people who are over 10,000 years old in it.

This will be fun ^_^
So before I embark on another journey, I candidly ask anyone who will care to answer:
1) Do you know what Cryonics is?
It's the attempt to freeze the dead, or near dead, so you can bring them back when science advances, often so that people with certain diseases can get them cured.
2) If yes, what does it do (or doesn't)?
See above.
3) Do you have any idea of the incurring costs?
Of it being done successfully for a long period of time? Probably in the tens of trillions, just for the research needed to develop such technology.
4) Do you have any informed religious objection?
OOCly, no. ICly, four of the nations of Eluneyasa do. They believe that such a method of preserving the dead violates the natural order of things.
5) Do you have any informed objection whatsoever?
Yes; even the best of techniques developped today have shown problems, including cracks appearing in bodies where they shouldn't. So far, the entire technology idea has proven unfeasible over periods of time shorter than it would actually need to be feasible for.
7) Does your Nation claim progress, expertise or mastery in this area?
Does the massive plague of undeath they suffered, which has since been altered by the still-existing sufferers, count?

4) Do you have any informed religious objection?
"Well, I might rightly answer no, considering that I am an Agnost. On the other hand, even Agnosts have the occasional spiritual thought. It seems to me that, in the most natural sense, death is necessary for rebirth. Not to mention genetic enrichment and assumed evolution? While I have no real quarrel with 'playing god,' as far as the advancement of science goes, I wonder at what point over-population and deforestation might overcome compassion. At what point we might consider the life of a wealthy individual to be... of little concern."
[Yes; even the best of techniques developped today have shown problems, including cracks appearing in bodies where they shouldn't. So far, the entire technology idea has proven unfeasible over periods of time shorter than it would actually need to be feasible for.]
"I have concerns that, with the need for funding for such research, advertisements may arise in effort to gather financial and moral support. In the meantime of perfecting this questionable science, how many deceased will be, under false pretenses, disposed of improperly?"
(Maybe I'm a complete idiot, but can someone explain to me how the quote thing works?)

You mean the forum function?
Copy and paste the section of text you'd like to quote from someone else into the Message Box.
Highlight the section of text and click the little icon with the words in the word bubble (like a comic book).
This will automatically rap the
[quote] quote tags [ /quote]
around that block of words.
If you wish to show who said a paticular quote....

Will look like this Maybe I'm a complete idiot, but can someone explain to me how the quote thing works
If you take out the space between the [ and the / of course. :)

OOC: You click the link labelled "quote" in the bottom right-hand corner of the post you want to quote. If you want to quote multiple posts, click on the icon in the same area that has the big quote-marks on it, which will promptly turn red. Then when you click on the "reply" button you get to quote all the posts.
From there on it should be pretty obvious.

I'm asking questions before showing a draft because I want to know what kind of terrain I'm stepping in.
I won't be discussing nor answering substantive issues on this thread. But rest assured, cryonic suspension won't be compulsory on anyone.
Please, anybody else? Anybody can answer again a question that has already been answered by another ambassador.
Thanks to all very much.
