Only if we be allowed to plunder the booty in the General Fund will we support such a measure.

The Ambassador does not believe in democratic ideals; how can he be anything other than opposed to a democratic organization? For this same reason, the Dangjin Huangshang has declined to enter the Liánhéguó though His orders have been to follow Liánhéguó law where it enriches the Great Jin; why cannot the Ambassador's government follow similar policies?

The state that is inflexible will inevitably break; the state that is formless is quickly washed away. To be both bending and unbending, a state must accept the power of others while retaining its own. How is the Liánhéguó not unlike this?

It is doubtful that the WA is going to change any time soon. While it is the position of The Romulan Republic that we will not allow the WA to dictate its policies to us, and feel that it would be beneficial to have a comparable international forum that is not so controlling, no one forces you to join.

As far as any joining with your nation to oppose the WA, while we wish to cooperate with other nations, the dictatorial nature of your government is at odds with ours, and we are concerend that your opposition to the current WA is not motivated purely by idealism, but by a desire to retain your membership and voice in the WA while continuing to oppress your citizenry. This is an attitude that our government cannot condone, and which at pressent forms a barrier to any full alliance between us.

In gameplay terms, all this post is saying is that a nation has joined the WA and plans to withdraw from it on March 17, subject to certain conditions. The rest of it is roleplay, and does not belong in the Gameplay forum.

Normally I would move it to one of the dedicated RP forums. However, as it seems to be renewal of the old National Sovereignty argument that, on occasion, enlivened the old NS UN debates, I will move it to the WA for dedication/demolition/polite discussion.

Delegates, no blood on the floor, please.

EDIT: Thanks, Gobbannium, for pointing out the double-up. Posts moved to original and double deleted.

Esteemed Delegate of Churchriech, may I ask which proposal(s) you find infringe on your nation's sovereignty more than you would like?

Though most of us try to make our proposals as all-encompassing of beliefs as possible, treading on the thin lines of national sovereignty is inevitable. I would suggest proposing the repeal of such resolutions if they infuriate you so, debating the politics of interventionists is like dropping a bomb on an angry unipolar hegemony, and will only end with you battered, bruised and bored to death with diplomats that act like schoolyard bullies at lunchtime.

Yours in Diplomacy

What is the point of the decleration contained in the comment of the honoured Ambassador for Churchriech ? Surely their government cannot have been so negligent as to have joined an international organisation without having made itself familiar with its laws ?

If the government of Churchriech dislikes or disagrees with the laws of this organisation then it can seek to repeal them, or better yet it can leave the w.a. and not have any of its laws apply to it.

Mind you with no clear indication of which laws the government of Churchriech finds so objectionable it is difficult to assertain what its actual cause of complaint is. Perhaps it would simply like to join a grim union of dictatorships which congratulate themselves on how absolutely they oppress their citizens.

If so we recommend that Churchriech do exactly that.

The group completely overlooks the minority and forces a liberal rule down the throats of fledgling nations looking for a safe alliance to their growth.

Yeah, because your nation was "forced" to join the WA. Oh wait, it wasn't.

I recently applied to this group to offer my voice in the assembly to be a cry for support from the minority I am a member of.

What minority, pray tell, would that be? It wouldn't be "nations whose ambassadors/governments don't get how the WA works", because that unfortunately doesn't seem to be a minority these days.

Who are you foriegn nations to pass legislations for other countries without understanding the circumstances? Though I am a believer in alliances I am an even further believer in a "lassaiz-faire" organization. It is fair to allow groups to offer insight and help to other nations but they should not be able to meddle in the affairs of another nation.

First off, I'd love to see some proof that we pass legislation without "understanding the circumstances" involved. Some of us do read the resolutions, you know. Second, by joining an organization whose purpose is to pass international legislation, you've given "foreign nations" that right.

Finally, if a resolution can not be reached to relieve the pressures in the WA and the minority is not recognized, I will withdraw immediatly on March 17, 2009 and I invite any who feel as I do to join me. May our nations prevail with the same treatment of other nations and may we be able to truly bring along some form of change.

Ah, it had been a while since we'd seen the "my nation is going to take its ball and go home if we don't get what we want" threat. Color us unimpressed.

The good but unwholsome Senator Sulla looks up at the ambassador ranting about corruption in the WA. Trying unsucessfully to look innocent he says in a shocked tone,
"Corruption? Here? in the Festering Snakepit.....errr...WA General Assembly? Nonsence! Perish the thought, old boy! There isn't any corruption here. I'm shocked that you would even suggest that my fellow ambassadors and I might engage in such activities. Why I hardly ever sell my vote to the highest bidder anymore.":D
