I have created a resolution to legalize marijuana. If you could please go to the WA look up the resolution named "Marijuana Legalization Act" and please (if you support) endorse this resolution. Let me tell you that this will lower the crime rate because any users of pot will not be arrested. And this will create a new powerful economic resource. Hey look at Amsterdam, I don't see their citizens complaining. Just please endorse me because this will create a new meaning for your nation.

Being the generous soul that I am -- stop laughing in the back there -- I'll post a copy here for you.

Category: Recreational Drug Use
Decision: Legalize
Proposed by: Fredfredburger89

Description: 1. This states marijuana will be a legal substance in all nations of the world.
2. To obtain medical marijuana a patient must request for a persription.
3. Marijuana cigarettes can be purchased at grocery stores and gas stations with a limit of .016 pot per cigarette.

Following this resolution, the crime rate will be lowered to a minimum because dealers won't deal pot anymore. Jails will be less crowded and, the world will have a new economical resource.

So, you need a "persription" to get medical marijuana, or you can nip down to your corner shop for a couple of packets of ".016 pot", whatever that means, without one. Not very well thought out, there.

I doubt you'll get far with this. Nations that wish to legalize marijuana will have already done so. Nations that are opposed to such legalization are likely vehemently opposed to it and will not support this.

Illegal: Tries to affect "all nations of the world", rather than just those nations that are actually members of the WA...

I meant .016 oz of pot per cigarette. Do you people not understand that this could dramatically lower the crime rate.

I would be against this resolution.

Oh yes, we've never had a problem with marijuana-driven crime, having pretty liberal drug laws. Cigarettes, on the other hand...

What is "oz"?

Besides, as Bears pointed out, it's an illegal proposal.

An ounce.

I would be astonished if the mods deleted it for that completely ridiculous reason, and I would imagine they would only delete proposals that explicitly deal with non-WA members. Obviously they are free to correct me on this point.
Hey look at Amsterdam, I don't see their citizens complaining.
You've obviously not met anyone from Amsterdam. Anecdotally, I know one person who lives there and one person who studies there, and both report massive increases in associated crimes e.g. lager louts who think it's a great idea to go to Amsterdam, pushers who know they can sell other, illegal, wares more easily.

I'd argue that's because Amsterdam is an exception, but in any case, it's not really the best example to use, particularly given most people in this forum roleplay.

An ounce.

Was not aware. We don't use such a unit of weights.

I don't think that this should fall under the WA's jurisdiction.
[OOC: Isn't there an in-game issue that deals with this?

Also, Fred, I did not appreciate the derogatory telegram you sent me.]

i will be for this, as this will destroy the illegal flow of cannabis and making it a practically worthless product.

I support it in principle, but it's badly worded.

Same here I'm against Marijuana as well, why do people want to legalize it? It's bad for your health, addictive, and bad smelling.

The only benefit of legalization, is the fact that you can tax the bejaysus out of it.

Does it really count as lowering the crime rate if you make the crime legal?

Kind of, but it means a lot of otherwise harmless people are released from prison.

OOC: No, some doctors are using it as a painkiller. There is a big difference.

Weed is quite legal in my nation, but to my view it is an internal matter.

Hello fellow WA Delegates. I have created a resolution in the proposals board in the WA Page. It is to require that some of the income of slot machines goes to a nation's educational system. If you could please go to the "list proposals" board and look for "Gambling Act of 2008." Thank you very much for taking the time to read this message. And please endorse the resolution if you feel you support.
Thank You,

President Spickler

Might I suggest you post the text of the resolution here, like Gobbannaen did for your previous proposal? So that it can be improved upon. and argued to bits. hopefully without pies.

It's considered polite to post a copy of your proposal.
Gambling Act of 2008
A resolution to legalize or outlaw gambling.

Category: Gambling
Legalize/Outlaw: Legalize
Proposed by: Fredfredburger89

Description: This resolution indicates that a small percentage of income from slot machines goes toward any member nation's education department.

Acts:
(1 Requires that 15% of income of slot machines from casinos goes towards any WA nation's educational system.
(2 If a casino's executive does not pay the gambling tax then he will either recieve a letter from the nation's federal government or depending on the amount he or her did not pay will be prisoned. The term of imprisonment will be in the nation's leader to decide.
(3 Gambling tax money will go to the Educational System then go to a Board of Edu. or a individual school.
(4 But, the money that is given to the school etc. will need to be to fund things like student supplies, tests. It can not go toward recreational events in the school.

We have categories for both Gambling and Education. This proposal doesn't fit the description of either. You're not actually legalizing gambling, you're assuming that slots are legal and taking some of the proceeds and dumping them in a totally unrelated area.

The text reads more like free associated thoughts than legal language. Sorry, it doesn't do the job I think you intended it to do.

Fredfredburger89, please don't start a new thread every time you resubmit this.

Also, you might want to pay attention to the feedback from your fellow WA members. Unlike you, they've successfully passed WA resolutions. You should listen to their advice.

Hello,

Having written "rezzies" (as I personally call them) for nearly a year, it takes much more than just typing what you want in the browser window. you need to do real life research, spell/grammar check and check that the resolution text complies with the rules.
