Repeal the “Prevention of Terrorism” resolution

Author's note: if found significant and important flaws in the resolution named "Prevention of Terrorism". The Repeal i want to propose it stated below:

Acknowledging the resolution’s valiant effort to fight, and eliminate both international and internal terrorism,

Noting that the Prevention of Terrorism resolution fails to ever define, or interpret what constitutes a terrorist, terrorist organization, or terrorism.

Regretting that the proposal allows too broad an interpretation of the controversial words mentioned above,

While realizing that such undefined terms could lead to false accusations between member states toward possibly innocent and neutral states,

Which could inevitably lead to declarations of war, and endangering International Peace,

Seeking an opportunity at establishing a better, more accurate resolution to help more effectively fight global terrorism with well established definitions of those mentioned in this and former Resolutions,

The World Assembly hereby repeals the “Prevention of Terrorism” resolution.

We would support this repeal, the current prevention of terrorism statute is deeply flawed.

thank you. i am deeply grateful.

to all WA delegates who wish to support this proposal click here:

http://www.nationstates.net/78967/page=UN_proposal/start=15
scroll to the bottom of the page to find my repeal.

if it doesn't take you to the page just search for the Repeal of "Prevention of Terrorism".

I think it's important to repeal this flawed act. and hurry the deadline is Monday, October 6, 2008 for the proposal to gain at least 92 more votes.

I also agree that this resolution is flawed. I also think we should start drafting a replacement right now instead of waiting after the repel is done so we can quickly replace this resolution.

Such a resolution cannot be written well swiftly and therfore should not be quickly cobbled together to replace anotherbad resolution.

However we should say to the honoured Ambassador for Wachichi that if they have submitted a repeal to Prevention of Terrorism and has not prepared themselves to accompany it with a telegramatic campaign in support of it then they may well find they will have to submit the repeal several times before it can hope to gain the requisite number of approvals.

yours sincerely,

in the repeal, it states to make a better resolution.

all i want to do is repeal it. When that's done, i think we can say that we're in the clear to make a newer one. I took note, and am now working on a newer and better version of the "Prevention of Terrorism" resolution. Be prepared to find it on the forum soon. This debate however is the Repealing of the "Prevention of Terrorism".

Respected Ambassador of Urgench, i admire the way you always oppose me. It makes this forum so much more interesting. I hope you will continue to do the same. :D

We hope our words above about a telegram campaign did not appear to be anything other than advice for the success of a good idea.

If the honoured Ambassador would prefer us to oppose them then they need only propose a bad idea, we are sure the respected Ambassadors for Glen Rhodes and Mapleleafss could supply the honoured Ambassador's delegacy with endless of these.

haha, thank you respected ambassador,

i guess i misunderstood your advise.

i tried using a telegraphic campaign to get another bill passed, it didn't seem very efficient. if i will do such a campaign to get it passed, as it is on vote right now, then i would need help in order to get a broader range of peoples to vote for it.

may you and your other delegate friends help me with such a campaign?

We suggest you only target delegates who have approved other resolutions which achieved quorum before. We will send some telegrams to those delegates we know have offered us support in the past. Our time is limited at the moment however, but we will do our best.

For other members we cannot speak, we are not our Regions Delegate ourselves we should point out, but whatever influence we may have with our allies will be used for the furtherance of this project.

i thank your help. I would also accept anyone else's help at spreading the word for this resolution.

note: the number of approvals has already increased. :D

The link the honoured Ambassador has provided seems not to lead to their repeal

http://www.nationstates.net/85775/page=UN_proposal/start=15

does this one work any better?

on one of my references to the actual proposal, it didn't lead to it. i fixed that mistake. as for all the others, i checked, including the one you sited, respected ambassador, took me to the right place,

just remember to scroll down to the end to find the resolution.

thank you.

OOC:

http://www.nationstates.net/85775/page=UN_proposal1/match=terrorism will consistently lead you to the right place; what you've given will stop working effectively every time the game updates, as old proposals expire.

IC:

Without a telegram campaign, you have basically no chance of getting anything passed. Seriously.

I'd also like to point you at the work the Altan Steppes delegation has done both on repealing this lousy resolution (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=559040) and drafting a replacement. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=559058) It would probably help if the two of you worked together on this.
