I urge all delegates to support this resolution
Description: WA Resolution #15: Freedom of Marriage Act (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: I see no reason for a World Assembly Resolution to strip control of individual process for states, and believed that the World Assembly was formed to empower Nationstates and their governments, not overpower them.
This "Freedom of Marriage Act" imposes on Theocratic nations, as well as any other that wants to define 'marriage' in the terms of their nation's own religeous, social and moral contexts. What we have here, is a piece of legislation that interferes with the cultural practices and customs of every nation with a different viewpoint on marriage than Mendosia.
Therefore, for the preservation of the shreds of independence the World Assembly allows its nations, and in struggle against Mendosia's overtly hostile attack on the power of the Governments of all World Assembly nations, it is imperative that we repeal this resolution, with a view to replace it with less destructive legislation.
This repeal is appalling. It does not imbibe of the spirit of decency or honour, we know its proponents to be currently engaged in a campaign of intimidation and hate directed at the noble nation of Mendosia through telegram.
This repeal cloaks vicious prejudice and dispicable oppression in flimsy arguments about national sovereignty in an attempt to disguise the shame of its authors about the true nature of their actions.
Delegates will have soiled their good reputations if they associate their nations with this highly unpleasant campaign.

What a nonsense. It is not discrimination it just repeal a flawed resolution. Every nations can recognize marriage other than between a man and a woman if they chose to.
There are no legal flaws in the resolution you are trying to repeal. And since many nations do not recognise the personal unions you refer to, Ambassador, recourse to interntional law to extinguish discrmination in this area of law was necessary.

This looks to be little more than an appeal to National Sovereignty.

Description: WA Resolution #15: Freedom of Marriage Act (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: Description: WA Resolution #15: Freedom of Marriage Act (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: REALIZING that the goal of the Freedom of Marriage Act is to give equal rights to minorities who have been suppressed for hundreds of years.
MAKING NOTE OF the importance of doing such through other means.
CONVINCED that the World Assembly is overstepping its boundaries by stating that all must have equal marriage rights.
REFERENCING the fact that many religions prohibit such unions.
STATING the fact that many countries have their foundation in these religions.
ENCOURAGING
a)The World Assembly to help these minorities achieve equal economic and political rights in other ways.
b)The World Assembly to address its right to interfere with a nation’s religion in other legislation.
REPEALS Resolution #15: Freedom of Marriage Act
There is another resolution to repel resolution 15. I urge all delegates to give support to this resolution so WA nation can determine for themselve the definition of marriage.
This repeal does not even scan properly. The degree of dispicable prejudice it advocates would be marginally less offensive if its authors could be bothered to frame it in proper english, but no less ridiculous.
Is the World Assembly to be expected to unmake its decisions on the basis of incoherent and ancient hatreds of un-specified origin and nature?

There will be a better drafted resolution to repel resolution 15 should this one fail to pass. Hopefully, you will support my new resolution then. I'll not stop until resolution 15 is defeated how long that may be.

NOT CONVINCED that the World Assembly is overstepping its boundaries by stating that all must have equal marriage rights.
I think equal rights are more important than the right of national sovereignty. Every nation that enters the WA had to agree that the WA resolutions are binding. And if that nation wants to discriminate citizens on marriage rights, they are free to leave the WA, free to go on repealing the Freedom of Marriage Act. But please do not waste time in telling that the WA cannot and should not think discrimination is not allowed.
With the Freedom of Marriage Act it just said so. Maybe you can say that many nations think otherwise now, but I do not believe that.
