The reason I have submitted this proposal is that I don't think countries that do all the invading should have 'ministries of defence'. They need less deceptive names, like War Office, Ministry of Offence etc. The resolution doesn't have that powerful an effect anyway, so please support.

You really should post the text of a proposal here, rather than just giving us a summary and expecting us to find it on our own. Also, you should submit the proposal here, get some feedback on it, and then submit it to the WA. There's really nothing you can get out of discussing it now.
Regardless:

Naming of Military Offices
A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Windows Vista Premium

Description: NOTICING that most countries have named their military agencies 'Ministries of Defence' etc it has come to my attention that this is a lie. Ministries of Defence, should this proposal be accepted, must rename to a title less deceptive, such as War Office and so on.

I personally see this as perfectly pointless legislation. The WA certainly does not have jurisdiction over what we name stuff, even if it is "deceptive". Sorry, but this will not receive my support.

Nations should have the right to name things whatever the hell they want. Plus, this is messing with game mechanics, I think

Nothing to do with game mechanics, but it is supremely pointless.

My government agrees that the names nations use to describe their domestic organizations should be in our opinion a hands off topic for the World Assembly. In fact, we have voted against UN resolutions because their text implied a very specific structure to domestic legal systems (such has having a Supreme Court).

I understand this is a semantic position to take, but we'd rather international bodies like the World Assembly and United Nations before it, focus on addressing topics that are of an international concern. In fact, the current resolution to construct a World Assembly Headquarters *is* an international concern (and one that is unique to this organization).

OOC:
I don't think it is game mechanics if it deals with the imaginary roleplayed elements of our nations ... NS1 doesn't allow us to name our military, and in fact has a daily issue which already makes assumptions on the names of many things within our nations. I'd argue that the concept of this proposal is legal, but I'd vote against it in a heartbeat. Therein lies the fun of the game ... other players can and will propose ideas that make my knee jump. ;)
