WA Proposal on Foreign Policy (its a good one)

Declares that all foreigners who travel to a nation and cause severe problems, or engage in intentional lawbreaking are to be sent to their own nation to be punished as their nation sees fit. This way, people won't end up being locked up abroad, and potential for foreign conflict can be reduced.

I feel it is an important issue, and request your delegate approvals!

The problem is that, depending on who "their own nation" is, they might not be punished. A man who goes to a rival nation and kills its president would be received as a hero by his own people, and would be awarded, not punished. So then the rival nation decides to launch a nuke into that guy's homeland, causing a war to break out and everyone later dies in a nuclear holocaust. And so instead of reducing foreign conflict, it only causes more.

This is a very interesting idea for a proposal, but for it to even gain the consideration of the Narnian Kingdom of Fotar, it must be much more specific...for example, what are "severe problems", who pays for sending the person back to their homeland, and, as Travada pointed out, what if the actions that are perceived as illegal by one nation are heroic to the other?

Hmm, when this one fails, I think I will try a more specific version...

This completely violates a nation's right to territorial jurisdiction. While we've not been playing the national sovereignty card much of late, we will do so now: if people commit crimes on our territory, we would at least like the option of deciding whether or not to try them.

Additionally, we will not extradite to countries practicing certain forms of punishment or without judicial safeguards. Therefore, we strongly hope any redrafting of this proposal will produce a radically different version.

Don't worry, this was my first attempt at a proposal, and I feel I have a better feel for the system now.

what if the actions that are perceived as illegal by one nation are heroic to the other?

Or for that matter, are just plain not illegal in their home nation.
