Alfred Devereux Sweynsson MD

Appearance: A male human who looks as though he's of mixed racial origins , and is aged somewhere between fifty & sixty. He usually wears a white linen suit, now that he’s no longer officially required to dress as a penguin [i](because that had been declared to be the “national costume” of the St Edmundan Antarctic) and has an official hat which he normally leaves off except for ceremonial occasions.
Age: 57
Languages spoken: Alfred is fluent in Anglish, Carib, Edmundo [i](a local ‘creole’ that is widely used on Old St Edmund), English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. He also has a moderate knowledge of Latin, and can probably use several other languages at more limited levels of ability too.

Official title: ‘First Watcher’ (or ‘Chief Observer’).
Responsibilities: Overall head-of-mission; defending St Edmund’s interests and those of the Godwinnian Commonwealth’s other members, and then the interests of their allies; mission’s main speaker in the Assembly; leads proposal-drafting team, and organises lobbying for those proposals; has occasionally submitted proposals of his own, as well as those sponsored by his government.
Politics: As a professional diplomat he generally keeps fairly quiet about his own personal opinions, although he apparently tends towards a rather cynical view of sapient nature, and acts as a loyal but [officially] non-partisan supporter of his country's government.
Previous employment: Did his national service in the Kinglish Medical Corps; after graduation, took a job as a doctor attached to the Diplomatic Service; transferred to a diplomatic career in 1988, and rose quite rapidly through the Service’s ranks; was St Edmund’s ‘Speaker Afar’ (i.e. Ambassador) in Hispaniola from April 2002 to March 2005, and ‘Chief Cnicht’ (i.e. ‘First Secretary’, or second-in-command) of St Edmund’s mission in Godwinnia from May 2003 to July 2005; was assigned the job of representing his country at the NSUN in July 2005, and was nominally transferred to serve ‘St Edmundan Antarctic’ in the same role from May 2006 until April 2008 although only as an “overwatcher” rather than an ambassador during the last three months of that period… In his ambassadorial role at the NSUN he also served, for several terms, as Regional Delegate there on behalf of Conservative Paradise (http://www.nationstates/net/region=conservative_paradise) and then for Conservative Paradise Reborn (http://www.nationstates/net/region=conservative_paradise_reborn).

Birthplace: Devereux Manor, Old St Edmund
Family: Dr Sweynsson can trace his ancestry in the male line back to ‘Edouard le Tigre’ (born 1753, died 1822), who was one of the leaders of an unsuccessful rebellion by African-descended slaves against their French masters on [‘Old’] St Edmund in 1777 and took refuge amongst the indigenous Caribs of the island’s interior when that uprising was defeated. He volunteered to join the Godwinnian navy, after the island changed hands four years further on, and sufficiently impressed his first captain there — Edmund Sweynsson — that the latter sponsored him as an officer candidate. Edouard rose to no higher rank than that of ‘Ship-Cnicht’ (i.e. ‘Lieutenant’), and to no more important command than that of an armed sloop, but still did well enough out of prize-money that he was able to buy a small ship of his own and enter the merchant trade after eventually retiring from that service. He married Edmund Sweynsson’s illegitimate daughter (and only child, but not only heir) Adela, who was a quadroon, and took her father’s name as a sign of respect to his benefactor.
Alfred’s father was also named Edward, and was a sea-captain in the family’s firm which had grown to quite a respectable size by his time. He married Alise Devereux, whose family had owned a substantial plantation on the island of Old St Edmund since the period of French rule. They both died over twenty years ago. Alfred’s paternal grandmother, whose name has not yet been revealed abroad, seems to have been from one of the island’s surviving communities of indigenous ‘Caribs’, and although she's also deceased her spirit still accompanies him.
Alfred is married to Lady Elizabeth Hilda Tanaquil Worthing-Sweynsson (details to follow…), a Godwinnian noblewoman, and they have four children (details to follow…). He is her second husband, and she has two children from her first marriage as well. Other relatives also exist, but are less relevant here.
Education: Parish St Marie Grammar School, StEdmund-his-Port University, St Alphage & St Swithin Teaching Hospital (at Lunden, in Godwinnia).
Qualifications: DMed, BSc (Biochemistry; 1st class Honours); certified as a ‘Spirit-talker’; reached ‘brown belt’ in Baritsu, but is out of practice now.
Interests: new developments in medicine, zoology & palaeontology, jazz & swing music, ‘Swing dancing’, world music, anthropology (especially African, Native American and hybrid spiritual traditions), history, good food & drink, backgammon, dinghy sailing.
Favourite drink: Godwinnian "Famous Dragon's Blood" whiskey, if there's any available, otherwise Bushmill's.

The information on Tzorsland is currently out of date. Shortly after Tzorsland transferred its old membership to Retired Werepenguins (and eventually again to Blue Booted Bobbies) the renegade Time Lords of the Master, the Rani, and the Meddling Monk, left the Nation of Tzorsland. King Harold then assumed the role of leader of Tzorsland. With the creation of the New World Assembly, King Harold is personally leading the delegation to the new international body.

With the formation of the World Assembly, King Harold has returned to international politics and has decided to personally lead the current delegation.

Background: October Siles-Vadice had originally sought to become a writer, but changed his mind during his years in college and began to pursue a political career. He served on the General Consul of the Markham Congress for several years. After the passing of Patent Eros Tatriel, October Siles-Vadice was named his replacement.
Politics: October Siles-Vadice, like many who are members of the Markham Congress, strongly supports the Council of Nevesá. His political opinions do not seem to follow any logical pattern, but the concerns of the ordinary citizen are always his prime concern.

Background
Talchimio-Spicolli was born in Fericcastria, grant of Imperio, province of Brutland, to a military family. Her parents are Col. Pierro Talchimio and Brig. Gen. Cassandra Degriano, both of the First Infantry Division of the Nord-Brutlandese Army. She is the second of five siblings, of which she is the only female.

Talchimio-Spicolli was educated in the elite Academio Santa Maria (Saint Mary’s Academy) in Brutland City and enrolled in the Royal University of Brutland and Norden for college. She holds a MA degree in Political Science.

Foreign Service
She joined the Nord-Brutlandese Foreign Service under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was first assigned to the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Brutland and Norden to The South Pacific, the only foreign posting the Kingdom had, under Ambassador Kyle Irvine Lambourne, on December 2006.

She was reassigned to the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom of Brutland and Norden to the United Nations on January 2, 2007. Before leaving Brutland, she married a childhood friend, the doctor Knut Spicolli. Spicolli went with her to her posting at the United Nations.

Talchimio-Spicolli was second-in-charge of the country’s United Nations mission, under Foreign Minister and Ambassador Bricco di Sint’Brullizio. Di Sint’Brullizio was an acting ambassador for the recently opened Nord-Brutlandese delegation, and it was actually Talchimio-Spicolli who was running the mission.

Ambassador Cestre l’E. Montòccegliano, M.D., replaced di Sint’Brullizio on January 28, 2007. Montòccegliano, who was also an MP in the General Court for the constituency of Vilònordà Sordosta – Píarmognazzo – Sint’Angelo di l’Ollino, was also frequently absent, though he delegated less tasks to Talchimio-Spicolli than di Sint’Brullizio.

Montòccegliano asked for relief on March 4, 2007, and Foreign Minister di Sint’Brullizio elevated Talchimio-Spicolli to the status of Charge d’Affaires.

A rape scandal broke out in the Nord-Brutlandese United Nations Mission on March 28, 2007. Talchimio-Spicolli was in no way involved, and it had been already taken care of by the military attaché of the mission, Capt. Bruno Morcone. On April 5, 2007, Talchimio-Spicolli was elevated to the rank of an Ambassador.

Childbirth
Talchimio-Spicolli bore twins while on assignment. She gave birth on December 27, 2007 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13322094#post13322094), with the aid of Richard York, the Cookeslandic Ambassador, and Avaya from the Ardchoillean delegation. Morcone was born in San Sbaccio, grant of Cantabrica, Brutland, to Cedric Morcone, a shopkeeper, and the former Paola Borghese. His mother died giving birth to him. He has no siblings.

He was educated in the public schools of San Sbaccio, and was known to be a truant and a troublemaker, despite his father’s stern reprimands. Consequently, his father put Bruno into the Academio Militara Reala di Norden e Marchòbrutellia (Royal Military Academy of Brutland and Norden). In the military school, he learned discipline, and changed ways.

He graduated second in his class in 2003. He was immediately given the rank of soldaschio (a rank between a corporal and a captain) and was assigned to the 2nd Airborne Division, stationed at Campo Stelte, La Spatafora, grant of Aigo, Brutland. There, due to his good performance, he was promoted to a captain (cappino) in 2005.

Assignment
The Nord-Brutlandese Foreign Affairs Ministry (Finisterre di l’Alfari Ellena, FAE) contacted the military for officers/soldiers to be stationed in various Nord-Brutlandese embassies and missions. Seeing this as a chance to tour the world, Morcone signed up.

They were required to take a course in diplomacy, and in 2006, Morcone was sent to the Brutland and Norden Permanent Mission to the United Nations along with a higher-raking officer, Maj. Erico di Jorca, and two others, Sgt. Carolina Colomi, and Pvt. Kail Pellucci.

However, in February 12, 2007, Maj. di Jorca quit the post of military attaché and returned to his unit in Brutland, citing personal reasons. FAE assigned Capt. Morcone to the post di Jorca left.

Scandal
On March 26, 2007, Capt. Morcone dismissed his two subordinates after Rianna Mori, an embassy staffer, reported that Colomi was allegedly raping Pellucci. Pellucci, being Colomi’s subordinate, admitted having to follow her desire to have sex, even though it was against his wishes (It was reported that Pellucci had a wife.). While Colomi denied Pellucci’s allegations, Mori and another staffer backed up Pellucci. Nevertheless, Morcone dismissed both Colomi and Pellucci and ordered them to return to their home units in Brutland and Norden. Morcone is still investigating the charges against Colomi.

This case of a woman raping a man made headlines throughout Brutland and Norden, but when the word spread, Morcone had already taken action. Some blamed Morcone for the scandal, but Foreign Affairs Minister Bricco di Sint’Brullizio defended Morcone, saying, “Captain Morcone acted immediately and decisively as soon as he was aware of the situation. I could say nobody could have done it better.” Charge d’Affaires (now Ambassador) Carina Talchimio-Spicolli was also blamed, but she was not aware of the situation until Nord-Brutladese media reported it (the position of the Permanent Representative to the United Nations was vacant until she was appointed to it.).

Presently, he is the only person in charge of security for the seven-person Nord-Brutlandese delegation to the World Assembly.

He disappeared shortly thereafter, but turned up later in an SVS prison, having been captured on a Chechen battlefield by troops who apparently did not recognize him, and had this crazy idea that he was an Islamic militant. Luckily, he escaped treason charges, and was named ambassador to the United Nations, where he made quite an impression on his fellow delegates, and especially their fun stuff (which we assume in many cases no longer functions properly).
Background: The Kennyite ambassador -- back for another round of silliness after being (briefly) replaced as ambassador earlier this year -- has always longed to follow in his parents' footsteps and join the pantheon of martyrs who have shed innocent Kennyite blood in the name of Jesus Christ, only he really sucks at it, and has been foiled in multiple occasions. Otherwise, Susa is just a two-bit sleaze with a thing for hookers, kleptomania and excessive gambling, and seducing rich women so he can rob them blind and continue on with his costly habits. That's partly how he ended up with Queen Adrienne, and now that she's gone and willed him a veritable buttload of Karmicarian stocks, notably Karmicarian Callboys/Callgirls Unlimited™, he's been irritating KCU execs to no end with his constant stock sales to pay off the Mob bosses who control most gaming rackets in OMGTKK. He's sort of been "inherited" by Adrienne's sister Izzy, now the president of her country, but he keeps flaking on their "conjugal visits" together to gamble and man-whore. He is a frequent customer of Karmicarian Ambassador Tana Petrov's, and no one knows why she keeps allowing him to see her: we're pretty sure she's aware of all the petty thefts he's committed in her office and bedroom every time they Rock the Casbah.
Fun fact: Susa remains a "person of interest" in the ongoing Secretariat investigation into the devastating arson (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13572948&postcount=1) that destroyed the former UN Headquarters. He has been detained for questioning several times by World Assembly security, but despite Ardchoillean suspicions, no one has been able to prove that he did it.
Politics: All the infidels must die.

Family: Jimmy is the heir to the substantial Baca family fortune in women's lingerie sales. His father James Sr.'s Bigcups™ products are immensely popular with Thessadorians and Kennyite actresses and supermodels (Vice President Antigone Morgan is a former Bigcups™ model). James Sr. died three years ago in a skydiving accident, and Jimmy's mom Ileana Cazares-Baca currently runs the business. Jimmy married a Scandinavian semi-supermodel last year; her name was Janis Frauschlemmersdottir or something, but she just goes by Jane Baca now. She very likely married Jimmy because of his family's business and government connections, however, and the two aren't seen together much. Most of Jimmy's friends think he made her up.
Education: M.B.A. in hostile takeovers from Thorograd Central College of Business, 2003.
Employment: Baca has been serving the Fernanda Administration since 2005, when through the Baca family's pull in Kennyite politics he was appointed to the Treasury Department. His role as then-Secretary Susa Batko-Yovino's assistant earned him a 2006 appointment as acting secretary when Susa married Adrienne and moved to Karmicaria. The next year he was made permanent secretary, but he later made a tragic gamble when he left Treasury to accept a job as ambassador to the brand new World Assembly. But the Kennyites voted to resign from the organization just weeks later, and Baca was pretty much screwed out of a job. He's not bitter, though. Really he's not.
Background: Having spent his childhood trying to stay on his dad's good side, Jimmy is naturally sycophantic to strong personalities, but his former role as cabinet secretary gave him a brief chance to become his own man. He is lovingly faithful to his wife, despite rumors of her infidelity. In private, Jimmy tries to be friendly and easy-going, though a lifetime of sucking up to people has made him remarkably pent-up. He has a pretty nasty temper when he can't hold it in.
Politics: Conservative partisan and strong supporter of President Fernanda and his administration. Like most Conservatives of his generation, Jimmy is socially liberal and economically conservative. A proponent of laissez-faire and international free markets, he is a strong supply-sider and free-trade booster.

Responsibilities: Ripping off Susa's suicide belt just in time and foiling his other various crimes. Beyond that, Jimmy is not expected to be a heavy hitter in the WA, since the Kennyite mission is mostly latent, and he has another job at Frowning Street advising the president, which mostly involves goofing off and playing video games in his office. (Because really, when was the last time President Fernanda listened to anyone?)

After the war, he was pardoned (but prohibited from serving in the Cobdenian Army), and became more involved in the independence movement, which now had a new sponsor in the form of the USSR, in a deal he himself had brokered. When Cobdenistan gained independence in 1953, he was made ambassador to the WA.

Family: born of upper-middle class parents, Cerys is the second of four children. Her much despised older brother has some kind of civil service job that involves close liaison with other nations in the region, the nature of which is annoyingly above Cerys's security clearance. Her younger brother rebelled and became a grocer, while the youngest sister is an army psychologist; Cerys gets on reasonably well with them in small doses.
Education: sports scholarship to the prestigious Caergrawnt college, where she got quite a reasonable degree in Gobbannaeg Literature for a rugger-bugger.
Employment: civil servant and retired rugby player.
Background: initially Cerys's civil service career was just a way to keep body and soul together while she played rugby. Successfully: she made the Segontium team for the Principalities Cup for several years at her peak. When she finally had to retire from first class rugby, she applied the same ruthlessness that had served her so well on the field to advancing in her actual career. Being able to physically intimidate the politicians she was theoretically taking orders from counted for a great deal. She was promoted to the post of Permanent Undersecretary for Gobbannium's former WA embassy in part because she stood some chance of keeping the Prince in line, and in part because it got her out of everyone else's way. When Gobbannium withdrew from the WA and set up the Mission to keep an eye on things, Cerys remained in charge of the bureaucracy. Since the politicians failed to agree on a political head, she has taken that over too.
Politics: never openly admitted, like the good civil servant she is, but Cerys is as unfluffy a liberal as they come. People need to be educated, assisted, and slapped round the face when they do something stupid.
Titles: She doesn't refer to herself as an ambassador. Technically in terms of the Mission she's the head of state of whatever office space she's managed to get assigned, so the distinction is a bit meaningless anyway. In Gobbannaen terms, she's still a Permanent Undersecretary.
Responsibilities: running the Mission, representing Gobbannium in the assembly, the usual diplomatic gubbins, and being sarcastic to idiots. As head of the Mission, she got to write her own job description, and she's particularly proud of that last bit.
Interests: rugby, beer, really good books, sex, and not suffering fools gladly. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

He hasn't been heard from since. Shemp's Mother Carmen is an international arms trafficker with a knack for escaping the authorities and a billion-dollar price tag on her head.

She has had the office suite's phone system rewired so that all incoming calls go to her phone, so she can record all conversations, and immediately disconnect callers who give her lip, anyone who would be a liability to the office, and any remaining Kennyites. She also insists that everyone address her as "Mrs. Lee," including her husband. Her elder son Sean, 18, still has nightmares about the time she found lubricant in his bedside drawer, immediately marched down to his school, stormed into his classroom, held it up for the entire class and demanded he explain himself. She hasn't had ample time to humiliate her other son.

A movie producer watched the media coverage and liked what she saw in the young marine(and quite possibly a few things she could not see, but those are scurrilous rumors). She was producing an Action Movie, and needed a leading man. After a meeting (and a weekend in "private consultations") Horatio received the part. The movie, Die,Commie Scum,Die! was a critical failure, but a box office smash(there is just no accounting for the poor taste of Palentine Citizens). This lead to other movies coming Horatio's way, including the trilogy of films where he played Colonel Carnage, commie exterminator extraordinaire.
