Global Ban on Income Tax

A resolution to establish administrative parameters.

Category: Bookkeeping

Effect: Sweeping

Proposed by: West Fresno

Description: In the interest of the individuals of the world, this proposal, if enacted, hereby abolishes all forms of income taxation in the World Assembly.

Income Taxation being a form of legalised theft on the part of a nation's government, it is in the interest of all free states to ban such barbaric practices and to give the citizens of this planet the freedom to pursue their own economic goals without interference.

Whereas, the World Assembly recognises that income taxation for whatever reason is a form of government sponsored wage slavery.

Whereas, government can find ways of generating revenue other than the garnishment of the wages of its populace, such as user fees, trade tariffs, donations, etc.

Whereas, a truly free people must possess the economic freedom to pursue their own goals.

Whereas, government has abused its powers of taxation and has spent itself into tremendous debt causing a global economic crisis.

Upon the creation of a Global Ban on Income Taxation, the world's economy will see tremendous growth like none has ever seen before. With government agencies unable to garnish the wages of their citizens, they must find legitimate forms of revenue generation.

Exceptions - Nations will be granted exceptions to this rule if the populace of the nation votes in a referendum of a 3/4 vote (75%) to allow the collection of an income tax by their government. These governments can lose their right to collect income tax when the population feels the government has become wasteful or corrupt and can repeal these taxes with a 2/3 (66%) vote in a subsequent national referendum.

This is enjoyably sick stuff: congratulations! A suggestion, though: how about we ban actual slavery first?

Oh, wait, I see: we wouldn't have any money to enforce it. Nevermind.
Whereas, government has abused its powers of taxation and has spent itself into tremendous debt causing a global economic crisis.
Ah, I think I see where the problem is coming from. Please don't push your nation's economic brussel sprouts onto our nation's plate. We enjoy a strong economy, and our national budget is balanced: this year's chief issue is what to do with the surplus, in fact. The Social Democrats want to fund the pension scheme ('save National Savings first' is the slogan of the moment); the Liberals want to blow it all on coke, or something.

I'm also a little confused as to how cutting taxes is going to reduce the debt.
Upon the creation of a Global Ban on Income Taxation, the world's economy will see tremendous growth like none has ever seen before.
Prove it.

It should be noted that such clauses are not legal - you can't opt-out of a WA resolution. Period.

Income tax is mentioned in the description of every nation, wouldn't this be a game mechanics violation by abolishing it?

That would be my thinking.

There are a few nations with no income tax, but it is a game mechanic none-the-less.
