WA Tax Code Concept

I haven't cubmitted anything yet and don't want to until this can be debated, but in order to prevent a thorn in everyone's side the way the old UN Taxation Ban worked, I am prepared to offer some sample legislation to clarify the WA's position on taxes.

And here goes.

"WA Tax Code"

RECOGNIZING that the citizens of many WA member states pay heavy taxes,

FULLY AWARE that a system that taxes individual citizens is extremely impractical in a system as large as the WA,

KNOWING that the WA needs to collect dues or taxes in order to stay functional,

BELIEVING that any system of taxation levied on member states must be fair, consistent, and effective only on the national and international levels,

THE WORLD ASSEMBLY:

1. DECLARES that no individual being may be levied a tax by the World Assembly;

2. FURTHER DECLARES that no government body, with the exception of a national or federal government, may be levied a tax by the Woeld Assembly;

3. ALLOWS the WA to levy a tax on all World Assembly member states' national government that is proportional to GDP;

4. FORBIDS the WA from enacting a regressive tax structure, or one that taxes poorer nations at a higher rate;

5. DECIDES nothing with regard to individual member states' national or local tax structures.

Ok, aside from our objections stated elsewhere to proposals of this generic type, we have an additional one here. You say that the tax should be proportional to the GDP, but why is that particularly fair? For a start, each nation has equal votes in the UN. Further, it bears no correlation to the services nations receive from the UN, particularly if opt-in programmes as under the UN are adopted by the WA. Finally, GDP isn't necessarily a particularly suitable comparison of economic strength: or at least, the proposal provides no justification for its use.

No! I believe that some one noted else where that "no this does not need to happen", as the WA has no expenses.

3. ALLOWS the WA to levy a tax on all World Assembly member states' national government that is proportional to GDP;

Penalized those nations that are economically better off - why should they pay more?

It just another tax the wealthy scheme - wealth doesn't just appear by majick - wealth is earned - and while we may have a disagreement on how 'hard' various people work to earn that wealth, it does not mean that work was not done. A wealthy nation has worked to become that way.

but in the end I should just ay "What Dec Ten and Fris said..."

Well, maybe not yet, but once we start passing resolutions and forming committees and stuff we'll start racking up expenses fairly quickly.

We do have an odd ability to print money out of thin air, but a tax code would be plausible for those leaning towards realism.

The cost of the relauch in our departments was 1p. Yes, it was really 1p, probably because Marayevkohara K. D, now the Head of Foreign Affairs coughed out the rest of the cash, which was actually 4 kunen and 99p. no wonder we need a 99p coin.
