Proposal of the United Tribes of Apoclypsia

Apoclypsia

Grreings, wise one and strong warriors!

I am the Chief of the Black Moon Clan and the elected Prezahdint of the Tribes of Apoclypsia. We are a good people, and we follow the traditions of our ancestors, as handed down after the Gods rained fire down on us.
At one time we had much of the magic you did; we had spears that spat death from afar, metal birds that flew, arrows that fell ffrom the sky and splashed fire on the enemy. However, after the Godfire fell on us, we turned from our ways and began following the teachings of our ancesters and Constitooshun and Declorayshun of Independince.
We know some men may have hate and evil in their heart and would wage war on the Apoclypsian people; we do not wish to contaminate ourselves with the dark sorcery of the past. We therefore ask for the Tribes of Apoclypsia to be a protectorate of the United Nations, to be protected by your sorcerers and your mighty magic.
In return we shall give to you gifts of the precious and semi-precious stones that is found in our land. We know that you too treasure diamonds, amethysts and such.

Well, the UN doesn't have a military, but if you want, I can always contact the TPP (The Permenta Panel) about any problems you got and maybe get some assistance from many pro-UN Nations who would want to protect you. The Permenta Panel has the right of Humanitaran Intervention, after all (currently being stripped away however). Just post here about any violence against your nation, and I'll see what I can do.

There is, um, one small problem. Many nations here are MT, and from what we here, your nation is...PT. If, if we end up supporting your nation, I fear we may be ending up, er, violating some basic law about...warfare, or something like that.

Whatever. On behalf of SilentScope Embassy, I'll help.

It's the Pretenama Panel, and here's the link. (http://z3.invisionfree.com/UN_Organizations/index.php?showtopic=69)

If you intend an action under its aegis, you should take it to the panel's offsite (above) or to one of the RP forums (International Incidents or NationStates). If you can find anyone to act on it.

Alternatively, you could work up a proposal that the UN give nations that satisfy the UN (how, another or an existing committee?) that they meet certain criteria (specify?) the status of protected nation (definition?). (What category would it go in? What strength?)

Apart from the problems that I've italicised, I can see such a proposal running up against the NS UN's lack of a military force and also against existing free trade resolutions, but the attempt might be instructive.

Oh, no, no. Ardchoille, I was making a different assumption than most people: Since all committees are run by gnomish nations now, I assumed that I would act as the go-between between the Commitee run by gnome nations, not that I would try to create a RL TPP staffed by real nations. So, erm, I would basically be a powerless person, only giving aid to Apoclypsia.

Hm. That sounds more instructive and far more useful than my pitful assistance. I actually have something similar to what you are stating in my mind, maybe I can focus on pulling that off. A UN Trusteeship Council prehaps?

Bahgum has an expeditionary mother in law force which we are sure will happily work for a nice set of diamond earrings each. Bahgum will not be held responsible to any damage to local bingo halls as a result of mother in law activities.
