I'm sorry, is this a proposal for law or the rant of the unemployed sociopath seeking acceptance. Agregorn is proud to be the master of her sovereign soil, and will dig up, preserve, test on, or eat anything we see fit.

If animals are healthy we are healthy.
This seems to be a non sequitur.

Humans should have been exterminated years ago to bring us a cleaner universe to live in. Now we could care less if animals kill humans since we are no longer allowed to do it ourselfs. Also we find that humans as good at their own extemination and need little help from other forms of life. Just leave them along and in time they will kill off themselves join the many lost forms of life that have gone before them in that cold dark void of Sanity una Socialist.

Humans are polluting the universe now?

Seigfried shrugged. "I'm sure some intergalactic species might find the deep space probes we've launched offensive. Especially if it collides with their new, just washed dreadnought. It'd be like a shopcart running into a BMW. The scratch would never come out, and boy would they be torqued..."

Just a thought, but how would a past extermination of humans have brought us a cleaner world to live in? We wouldn't be here to enjoy it, would we?

Returning to what is trying to pass as a proposal; no. We won't ban animal testing, as the the alternative seems far more cruel.

Humans are polluting the universe now?

Just another rant from another species that wants humans to recognize them as equal but feels no need to reciprocate.

It is our opinion that although Animal experimentation is unpleasent a total ban would be detrimental to the progress of medicine. However, OtakuDo would readily support a ban on testing Cosmetics and the like on animals.

Let each nation decide what is best for him or her self on this issue. There is no need to make this a global issue.

One country reveres the cow and so he admires the beast and allows none to harm it and even pray to it.

Another country reveres the same cow and enjoys it after it is cooked to medium rare perfection with beans and cornbread, but only after praying to God thanking Him for the delicious morsels on the table.

Let each chose for himself the manner with which respect is given.

Thank you for your consideration. I surrender the floor.

As has to be pointed out every time, this falls under Resolution #166, "Freedom of Scientific Research"; until such time as that is repealed, the UN can neither legalise nor outlaw animal research. If that's the optimal position, then Don't Panic, it's already there.

Elmwood, well spoken.

I'm happy with resolution #166, shouldn't we all be?

Having gone over the text of the act, it's a do nothing law, but in a good way. It still allows nations to decide what research is legal within it's territory.

Don't mock nature!

Why not? In a study, Cobdenian scientists found that stoats were not insulted by taunts, satire, sarcasm, or remarks about there parentage. Similar studies attempted to see how squirrels responded to comments claiming they had participated in incestuous relationships, and also yeilded no results. The conclusions is that it is very hard to mock nature

Ban animal testing....globally?! What an absurd idea! The UN should not have the power to enforce this. That isn't to say I'm an advocate for animal testing, but let the individuals decide. We cannot simply tell our member nations that they cannot test on animals. If a federal government passes this law than so be it, but we mustn't force it on them.

Nein! Nein! and Nein again!!
