UN Resolution Browser

One of my Not-quite-New-Year-but-time-to-make-a-change Resolutions was finally to do all the things on my to-do list, and so:

NationStates UN Resolution Browser (http://www.safalra.com/other/nationstates/un-resolution-browser/)

At first glance this may not look any more useful than the usual resolution list, but if you scroll down below the resolution you'll notice a very handy feature:

http://www.safalra.com/hotlinkable/resolution-relations.png

This makes it easy to find related resolutions, which is a feature I've often wanted.

Also, I've improved the NationStates UN Resolution Safety (http://www.safalra.com/other/nationstates/un-resolution-safety/) article.

[edit: from a later post:]

Is it possible to tweak it so resolutions can be searched by category or author?
There you go:

NationStates UN Resolution Search (http://www.safalra.com/other/nationstates/un-resolution-search/)

Note that I haven't had time to test it fully yet, so please let me know if I've done something stupid.

In addition to finding resolutions (for example, every resolution containing the word 'animal'), it's also very useful for generating statistics - for example, the number of resolutions per year:

2002: 2
2003: 40
2004: 42
2005: 53
2006: 54
2007: 41

Wow that's awesome and going to help me a lot, thanks Safalra.

I like the part with related resolutions at the bottom. Good work Safalra.

This is a great resource: thanks.

One thing. Will it be possible for you to customise a bit, to the extent of linking less obviously related resolutions? For example, before the Education & Category, resolutions on education were mixed between Human Rights and Social Justice.

It's theoretically possible. The 'related resolutions' section is generated using a number of 'relations' which look like this:

function sameCategoryRelation($resolution1, $resolution2){
return ($resolution1['category'] == $resolution2['category']);
}

To create new relations I just need to have a description of the relation and a way to compare two resolutions to determine whether they are related.

Well, I suppose what I had in mind was this (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index_of_un_resolutions.html) (although given it already exists, perhaps adding it into your system is unnecessary).

Is it possible to tweak it so resolutions can be searched by category or author? You have know the resolution number of one to find the others.

Very nicely done, Saf; thanks for the trouble.

A resolution search tool is next on my NationStates to-do list - the results will then link in to the appropriate page in the UN Resolution Browser. The idea is to be able to do fairly advanced searching, including searching in the resolution text.

This is the most useful tool to come along in a long time. Many thanks, Safalra!

Absolutely wonderul work, Safalra. I was going to make up a list that I could use a search function to find resolutions but you've beat me to it. Many thanks.

Very useful. I'd like to ask HotRodia/the moderators that this be added to the proposal sticky (specifically, under J (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11280689&postcount=2)).

Thank you Safalra.

Very useful. [...] Thank you Safalra.
Thanks for your kind words, everyone - it's always good to know that something I've spent time creating is appreciated. If you have any ideas for further improvements then feel free to make suggestions.

This has already been covered, but that's a fantastic tool. Thanks.
