Recognition of Hypnosis
A resolution to improve worldwide human rights.

Category: Human RightsStrength: MildProposed by: Greater Dunedin

Description:

Aware that hypnosis has been undertaken far back in human history and is still active today.

Concerned at the growing false "evidence" against the existence of hypnosis and concerned that this may lead to false beliefs about hypnosis in society.

Further Concerned that despite hypnosis's presence many governments refuse to accept its existence.

Outraged that despite nations' refusal to accept hypnosis, immoral hypnosis acts have lead to foul play including but not limited to rape, murder and suicide.

1. Defines hypnosis as "a trancelike state that resembles deep sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject".

2. Calls Upon all UN nations to recognise and accept hypnosis as a real phenomena.

3. Encourages nations' health sectors to set up a Hypnotherapy board which will deal exclusively with issues related with hypnosis.

4. Asks nations to implements rules and regulations regarding the safe practice of hypnosis to avoid any unethical hypnotism.

Voting Ends: Thu Nov 29 2007

I mean the only problem I see with it is it's not "serious" enough. Apart from that I do see potential.

Totally against. If a government refuses to accept evidence, let them and they will fall that much faster. Force someone to accept reality when they prefer to live in a bubble and you risk their fear being released onto nature with devastating results.

7-23-15 TT of Botrwa: "Denial of reality is based upon fear of the unknown. The fearful prefer to think they are in control so they rely upon their inventions, their shadows of reality. Shatter those with force and see them pounce against the first thing they see which will probably be something you hold dear."

Look it up, in the thread in the NationStates forum titled "Religion of ShogunKhan, The spread of Wonderful War".

As well, the forcing of such recognision is a clear violation of the national sovergnity of all nations.

Also..
Concerned at the growing false "evidence" against the existence of hypnosis and concerned that this may lead to false beliefs about hypnosis in society.

This is a clear obstruction to free and open debate on the issue. By calling all counter-claims in a general blanket statement to be condemned is foolery. If those claims are academically supported, then they have an equal right to be expressed.

And... this resolution is absolutely frivolous. We have better things to resolve. Like the Fair and Equal Act, etc.

Right now, the only action clause in here is requiring nations to acknowledge hypnosis. Okay, fine.

"Hypnosis exists: it is a parlor trick used by stage magicians, and is little more than controlled mass hysteria."

Such a statement fully and utterly complies with your Proposal as worded. How has that increased civil rights?

I don't agree with this. I will change my mind though if enough proof for Hypnosis is presented to me. This does have potential though. You may need to change some things to make this look more like a fact then an idea.

Okay, thank you. I think that people need to realise hypnosis as a medical subject. Unethical hypnosis can and does happen and it needs to be stopped for the safety and security of a nation.

I would vote for you then. We need the study of medical Hypnosis first before we do anything though.

haha, no. I am saying that if we get enough proof that this is real, then it can be considered UN worthy

Good luck on that.

I don't see this as being "UN-worthy" even if such proof was forthcoming. And since I doubt any definitive proof, proving or disproving hypnosis, will be satisfactorily presented, I'd have to say no to this one.
