A resolution to relax gun control laws

n developing countries, UN's gun control is avoiding that them economy can develop as well as they need. Bad people is going to buy arms even if it's illegal. If we don't let people buy arms, good people will be defenseless. I propose:

1. Let businessman free buying and selling arms all around the world.
2. Let no-mad people free buying arms, and use them if the life is in danger

Welcome to the UN, Salxitzonia. And congratulations on being interested enough to try writing a proposal.

I'm afraid this one isn't going to make it. It's illegal. But keep trying.

Before you write another, read a few debates and try to get a feel for what legal proposals are like.

Reading the Silly and/or Illegal Proposals thread here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12966459#post12966459) will help you see what can go wrong.

Check the stickies (the threads at the top of the page) and make sure there's not already a proposal on that subject.

Read the rules about writing proposals.

When you've written it, don't submit it straight away. You can't change proposals after you submit them.

Run a spellcheck on it.

Then post it here. People will explain if there are any problems with the way it's written.

Also it best to put the proposal up first hand not tell them where they can find it. As things move on off the list it may move.. So having it here lets folks see it and not have to hunt for it. Also it can be deleted from list for reason if it violates a rule and be lost...

Part of the problem here is guns will still get in the wrong hands without some control on them.. Many of the nations that now give the right to bear arms to it's citizens did so at a time they needed them to survive.. Also at a time you had to pause and reload each time you fired it... Today there is no real need for everyone to have guns and then for them to have one that fires 200 rounds before you say, "I'm a friend not the tax collector."


2. Let no-mad people free buying arms, and use them if the life is in danger
This is why there needs to be controls and restrictions on them. As who will say who is mad and should own a gun... Then does a person realy need a 105 to protect their home. As when one has a 105 then only way to balance it out is for all to own a 105.. Thus we get to nukes as in this world it possible to build a nuke that can be fired from a 22 cal gun.. that will do more harm to everything around it than just kill a crook trying to rape your wife steal your TV...

OOC: One of the things against the right of citizens to bear arms in US is fact that those rights were given at a time when things were a lot different in the US.. The Americans faced natives wanting to reclaim their lands taken by them, slaves wanting their freedom, French to the west wanting everything to east, Spanish to south wanting back land taken from it as well as on north. Then if one wanted to eat meat they had to hunt for it. And even with the right to bear arms the US founding father never said there could be no limits or restrictions put on that ownership..

As many of the laws don't punish people for their use of a gun it what they do with it they are punished for. Kill a person you don't hang for having a gun you hang for murder.. It is a crime to murder but to kill has a different meaning... You kill in defense of your life or to feed your family, you murder when you take a life. The crime is murder not kill....
