Repeal "Freedom of Humor"
A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution
Category: Repeal
Resolution: #36
Proposed by: Morulcrow
Description: UN Resolution #36: Freedom of Humor (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: UNDERSTANDING the essential of human rights,
NOTING that humor plays big part in our lives,
DETERMINE that we do not need overlaping resolutions in UN resolutons,
URGING members of United Nations to help to stamp out resolution that are no longer necessary, keepin the United Nation updated and in order,
TAKING A STAND that this resolution is overlaped by UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION #26 The Universal Bill of Rights,
Article 2 -- All human beings have the right to express themselves through speech and through the media without any interference.
HEREBY repeal this resolution as resolution #26 is more general and is more sense.

From UBR:
Article 2 -- All human beings have the right to express themselves through speech and through the media without any interference.
From FoH:
make no laws preventing any sentient being from exercising this right to humor except where said exercise is contrary to the accepted moral standards of the community or where said exercise is unduly hurtful to a particular individual or group.
While you are correct in saying that UBR is more general, it completely lacks the safeguards that are included with FoH, and while there is some obvious overlap, it remains that Freedom of Humour does a more complete job of legislating its specific area than UBR does.

Dear Kivisto,
if there is really a need to go indepth into each human rights to safeguard each and everyone of them, wouldnt that be thousands and millions of resolution?
If there is really a need to go into that extend, i would believe that setting a Commission of Human Rights is more practical and feasible. Hm, you just give me an idea! but anyway, repeal of FoH is must to keep UN resolution in order. Going in-depth is not the job of the body of UN in general, instead is its commissions.

i believe ur right
we should have freedom of humour
Dear Kivisto,

You've missed the point of my argument. It is not that it needs the extra protection to the right. It is that the right needs to be clearly delineated such that one person's rights do not tramp all over another's. UBR does not offer any protection of that sort, while FoH does.

I agree that Freedom of Humor clarifies boundaries that are left open by The Universal Bill of Rights. It makes some important distinctions between the freedom of speech and infringing on others' rights and clarifies a missing piece of the UBR. These small distinctions are very important and should be kept.

How did I miss this resolution? We've got one called "Freedom of Humor"? Excellent! That means I can submit my latest draft:
BANTHAS ARE BIG
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong
WHEREAS the participants of the NationStates forum, while quite noisy, do not accurately represent the vast majority of the NationStates players, and;
WHEREAS said vast majority of players unequivocably support the Freedom of Humor for all, and;
WHEREAS banthas are indeed quite large,
I hold this truth to be self-evident...
BANTHAS ARE BIG.

Jokes
"The Right To Arm Bears" isn't funny any more, okay? I don't care that we have 'Freedom of Humor'. That Resolution doesn't give you the right to make joke Proposals..

Pfffft. Both the Freedom of Humour proposal and the Universal Bill of Rights both exist under the assumption that freedom is a right. Once I become supreme emperor, all that will be moot. I vote repeal both.

I've never understood why "The right to arm bears" is considered a joke proposal. My people take it quite seriously.
