Potential proposal

Hi there!

Before I post a potential proposal I´d like to ask if it is allowed to base a resolution proposal on an old proposal.
The other day I saw a proposal which was NOT approved.
I thought the main idea was good, so I adapted it, changed some things (but kept some as well).

Now the question:
1.) is it allowed to propose such a resolution?
2.) would it make any sense?

I am really looking forward reading your answers!

Thanks a lot!

If you're going to base the fundamental idea of your proposal on someone else's, I suggest you first ask them if you can have their permission. If they have given you their permission, it should be ok. Otherwise, I wouldn't risk it unless you're absolutely certain it's different enough from the original proposal not to be considered plagiarism.

For instance, a lot of different proposals can be made about (just to pick a popular topic) gun control. However, if your proposal looks like you simply corrected someone's spelling and added a few lines, it's still considered proposal stealing, methinks.

Double check the rules for UN proposals located here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=420465), and if you're really uncertain, you can always ask a mod in the moderation forums located here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1231), although I think this would require the use of the Getting Help page. I'm a little fuzzy on that one.

Hope that helped.

... Or you could just post it here and let us figure it out. Mods read this forum too, and players have helpful advice.

Don't send it to Getting Help - that's not an analysis channel, it's strictly for rulebreaking.

I was a little confused about that one...I'm still figuring out a few things.
