Should You Need Endorsements?

As a member of the UN I have ideas to make the world a better place.I have many laws I want to put forward for a vote.I am new to this website and my country is new so I have noendorsements, but do we really need them? The reason we have the UN is to keep the world a safe happy place and all UN nations deserve the right to their opinions heard. So, do we need endorsements?

OOC: I think you do. Be patient... you'll get your chance to change the world soon enough. If you can't get the countries around you to endorse you what make you think that you can set the floor of the NSUN on fire?

OOC: You do need them, but in a region as large as The East Pacific it'll be very easy to get them, quickly. I don't know how TEP rules work, but if you endorse the delegate and vice-delegate (or whatever their equivalent thereof is), you'll probably get 2 in return to start with.

Should you need them? I don't think endorsements act as a check on silly proposals, particularly, because it is quite easy to get endorsements. There'd probably be a few more bad proposals if there were no 2 endorsement rule, but I'm not sure the rule is that influential in that regard. However, I equally don't see any reason to scrap the rule (other, perhaps, than it force long-time residents of dwindling regions to move or create puppets, but that's a very small minority): endorsements, once again, are easy to come by, and everyone still has the right to vote on proposals, meaning everyone does indeed have a voice.

One further, slightly unrelated suggestion: before you put forward your ideas for laws in proposal form, post drafts here. The theory, at least, is that other players will be able to help get rid of any problems from those drafts, and propose improvements: crucially, they will be able to point out rules violations, which almost all first-time submitters - myself squarely included - fall foul of.

The Yellow Sea Islands agrees with the Party of the Penguins. Why do we need endorsments? New members such as myself are treated as second rate representatives. When we join the UN we should have the right to propose laws as any other member can. Who ever thought of the endorsment rule put it in unnecesaraly. I demand equal rights!

I think that neither my opinion nor your opinion on this matters. Endorsement are part of the game and nothing you say will be changing that.

Furthermore, I think that a punctuation mark is not an acceptable substitute for using the space bar.

The reason we have the UN is to keep the world a safe happy place and all UN nations deserve the right to their opinions heard.?

The reason we have the UN is so that nations can carefully deliberate on subjects that will affect all member nations, then evaluate the nature of the phrasing of the recommendations, then decide whether to put them to a vote, then spend several days voting on those recommendations, yea or nay.

The reason we have UN forums is so that all UN nations (and non-UN nations) can have their opinions heard. You don't need a single endorsement to post here, nor or forever. If it happens that the UN rank and file find your posts silly, irrelevant, or poorly phrased and punctuated, you'll be given a chance to modify your behavior and style and continue posting until you achieve coherence. Failing that, you'll likely be mocked or ignored.

Any fool can get two endorsements in one of the feeders in less than a day. It takes more commitment to read the Rules for UN Proposals (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=420465) front to back, which is entirely necessary to prevent you getting warnings from NationStates Game Moderators for your too-hasty illegal proposals.

There's a hint in that last paragraph. Take it.
