Committees

Because of the sheer size of the NSUN, and the amount of votes resolutions now receive, would it be feasible to create committees? Proposed resolutions are proposed, voted on. If they receive enough endorsements, they go to a committee where it is refined and created into a proposal fit for the NSUN, where it then goes to be voted on by everyone.
It might slow down the amount of resolutions being created, but at least the ones that do come up will be a lot better if a committee revised it.
I am a bit new to the NSUN, my previous countries were never very active in it, but I participated in the AMUN (Arkansas State Model United Nations) this school year, and have begun to very much like politics.
What do you guys think?

If there is no way to code it into the game, it can't become an official part of the game. Such is the case with your suggestion.
However, there is nothing wrong with reversing your process. Start with committees, fine tune your proposals with a small group, then bring it here for approval and submission. There are a number of such groups, and I'm sure members will pop out of the woodwork and tell you about them.

I’m very glad to see that you’re getting involved in the UN dear, it’s always good to see fellow new players with new ideas joining in. I’m more than sure your energy will become a wonderful asset in the future. :)
I’m afraid I don’t think any committees could be formalised because that would require some kind of change to game mechanics which just won’t happen but I think you could consider this forum an informal committee.
We collectively contribute to draft proposals that authors suggest and tweak them until they’re perfect for submission, there’s also a collection of player made forums dedicated to specific kinds of resolution so their expertise are even more focused.
Edit: Sorry for repeating the above, I didn’t press submit.

OOC:
Welcome to the UN! It's always nice when a new member wants to contribute to the organization and makes a suggestion. There's certainly nothing wrong with your idea except that, for purely technical reasons, it ain't a-gonna happen.
As Fris and Ithy said, what you're suggesting sorta happens now. Most of the good resolutions you find in the list of resolutions were worked over in independent forums (called "offsites") before being introduced here. Some regions have forums where members can post drafts and people can make comments and suggestions. Then there are offsites not connected to regions. Some support certain "political" views. Some are focused otherwise. There's a really good list of them here:

If you're interested in getting involved in drafting proposals, take a look at the list and check out whatever sounds interesting to you. Many of the off-sites are really good places to get involved, learn the ropes, and build legislative "alliances".

Honourable Delegates,
As it would seem there are already committees, does anybody know if there is a Security Council? I did not see one in the forums.
If such a council does not exist, would the honourable delegates present permit me to create one as an RP thread here? Such a thread would include random disasters and conflicts (suggestions welcome), and would have its own elected officers. UN members would probably have to apply to be in the Security Council.
OCC: I think it would be a fun way for members new and old to get active in the UN, other than creating legislation.
Please respond with your opinions, thank you.
Sincerely,

That sounds like a totally RP idea, that would have nothing to do with the UN. You'd be best off starting it in the II or NS forum.

Honourable Delegate,
I'm afraid to say, it has everything to do with the UN, as the Security Council is part of the UN.

It's important to remember that NS does not equal RL. The Security Council is part of the UN in real life. There is no NSUN equivalent, to my knowledge. Therefore, while I like the idea of RP'ing a Security Council, and would probably join in, it probably would go better in NS or II, or even in an offsite forum. An offsite forum could even be created for the purpose.

OOC: I don't think we really can create one formally, because of game mechanics. I'm pretty sure that adding a NSUN Security Council would require some significant game changes and coding, which probably will not happen. But a lot of people have said that already, so I'm going to stop flogging the deceased equine-like thing.
However, there is a lot that can be done in this forum, and in other ones to serve the same purpose. And it does open up some interesting RP possibilities.

I agree in the concept. Committees are good as long as they do not hinder progress. Polls could be used for members to send proposals to committee, then comm. revises & resubmits until a resolution arises. The Committee should be in touch with the proposer, to stay within the spirit of the document.

Ooc: I think it would be hard to incorporate into the game's code but an RP thing for the NS UN Security council would be cool

Honourable Delegates:
I had not intended for such a council to be incorporated into the game's coding, but instead kept in the forum.
Will the honourable delegates permit me to start the NSUN Security Council? It would most likely be a single, RP thread here; but, if it becomes popular enough, I can expand it by creating its own forum.
What say you?
