I see. Have you considered the option of resigning from the organisation?

Well this becomes more confusing by the minute. If you're not a member and membership is not mandatory, then...what is your complaint? Why are you in this chamber subjecting us to this unseemly outburst? This seems little more than a petulant child having a temper tantrum.

Well, you're certainly being noticed for something bad right now.

OOC: There's a UN card just for these occasions...

IC: I would point out to the honourable representative that the process for resigning from this august institution is remarkably simple, and that submitting his resignation would magically solve all his problems.

Maybe it's worth noting that, to quote Jack Riley (completely out of context), 'there is no United Nations'.
What I mean is, the UN consists of member nations who propose and vote on legislation, and nothing else: even its committees have to be set up legislation from national members. If everyone in the world left the UN, or voted against all proposals, or adopted a hardline sovereigntist stance, it would have no legislative authority. What you in fact want to get worked up about is: those UN members who try to use the organization to exert control over others.

Then make them tie themselves!
In all seriousness though, if you seek to bring the United Nations down, the only way you're even going to have a chance to do so is within. Propose a notion to disband the UN. Or don't. All I know is, it's the closest you can come to getting what you want.

*snip*First off, Christelle, how dare you smear Jack Riley's good name with that ugly visage?! Just because Riley hates the UN is no reason to compare him with people who hate the UN! For shame, madame! What's more, the process for leaving this organization is not simple at all (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10171530&postcount=8), and the question is moot anyway, since, as already discussed, Nightdale is not a member.

Please don't. It's awfully boring continually having to eject nations who propose disbanding the UN. Don't suggest it as an alternative, please. We've got better things to do.

Fair enough. I'll stick with my 'tie them' suggestion.
Auto-eject, huh? Can't say I blame you.

I'm not familiar with this "Untied Nations", so I can't say how evil it is. As for the United Nations, I agree with the OP (ICly) that they are evil. However, I also agree with Damisar. The only way to fight it is from within. Disbanding is illegal, but as a member, you could band together with others who think like you and steer the UN towards what you want it to be. As an outsider, all you can do is kvetch and get ridiculed by the "evil ones".

I cannot resist jumping on this bandwagon. Unfortunately, I can't think of a witty thing to say. A person makes two posts, I hate the UN and I am not a member. Not much to say really. Besides I don't think any good anti-UN nation would want his nation in the first place.

Erm... Yes. I am contrite. I'd like to apologise by offering the good ambassador this poster for his office.

The very reason Angelitis joined the UN is to take advantage of the basic corruptability of people and orginasations in general. If we can exploit the system we won't hesitate to do so. While our goverment does not feel the UN is corrupt or evil, quite the opposite if anything, we do feel by it's very nature it can be corrupted so a Goverment such as us who wants only one thing power and money can get it easier by being a UN member.
(It should also be noted that we have just executed our spellchecker for uprising against the system.)

What is this Uprising you speak of? How organized is it? Do you have a PR campaign and participate in the public debate?

The OP reminds me of the joke involving the long-suffering Jewish man who prays every day for the whole of his life to win the lottery so that he can help his fellow man and his family. He prays fervently and constantly, "O Lord, please let me win the lottery!" Every day for 70, 80 years he prays and dedicates his life to being the best Jew he can be, helping others where he can. On his deathbed, the man, using much of his remaining strength, summons up a final prayer. "O Lord, why have you never answered my only prayer? I have never asked for anything else all my life! Why have you forsaken your faithful servant?"
With a rumble of thunder, after all those years, God parts the heavens and looks down on the old man and says, "Moishe! Meet me halfway! Buy a ticket!"

So the metaphor you're going for is you have to buy a ticket to the UN if you want God to fix it?
